Very sharp lens, with an ideal zoom range for architectural and landscape photography and sturdy construction (it is dust and weather resistant), although with a fixed aperture of f/4 it is not a bright lens. It is quite bulky and somewhat heavy, especially compared to the 14-42 kit lens, although not compared to other similar lenses. One advantage of the lens is that it has a filter thread, unlike many wide-angle lenses. A nice addition is also the clutch on the focus ring for quick transition to manual focus. It is not optically stabilized - stabilization is done by the camera (Olympus - now OM - cameras are known for in-body stabilization). Its price, of course, is somewhat high, but the only other lens with a comparable range, the Panasonic 10-25 f/1.7, although brighter, is heavier, has a longer minimum focus distance, and almost double the price.
