Unexpectedly reliable and quality transceiver, considering the price and the country of origin. Satisfactory range and voice quality on a flat surface, tolerable on ground with varied terrain. Good battery life. We would give it 5 stars, but we allow it room for improvement (!).
Excellent for the price and reliable!
Quite a reliable product. Of course, the headphones are either defective or "fake." After 2 weeks of use, 2 pieces started to have unclear sound from the microphones and made noise.
Very good. I went and tried it with a friend of mine, he inside the house and I with the car, at a distance of 2.65 km and it still worked. Between us, we had a few houses and mostly trees.
For the job I do, they are quite good.
Many times, if I work on a mountain without obstacles, I can catch others talking.
It has satisfactory range for its price
Very honest. I have used it at an event with very loud music and my colleagues communicate perfectly
The best purchase for its value. However, with the factory programming of the 16 channels, it requires a license, as it includes frequencies that are illegal to use. For legal use, it requires reprogramming through a computer with the appropriate USB cable to enter the legal (license-free) 16 PMR frequencies allowed by the European Union.
Cheap and reliable. They reach 5-6 distances of 500-600 meters with vegetation and uneven terrain without any problem.
It has 14 programs that cover my needs.
The antenna breaks easily with heavy use, but it is so cheap that it doesn't matter.
Very good tool but now, like many others, it is 20 years behind and needs an upgraded version that charges with USB! Of course, I converted it to USB and it worked!
They are truly reliable tools in an open field without obstacles. They can have a range of up to 10 km and exceptional durability (under reasonable conditions). In my case, it fell into saltwater with the flashlight on, stayed inside, and floated for 15 seconds. I took it out, removed the battery, wiped it off, and it worked perfectly again. It hasn't lost any range or reception after 2 years. Simply perfect, I highly recommend them. Their price is ridiculous compared to their performance and quality. I will definitely buy them again if mine break.
Classic value. It's not something cutting-edge as you understand.
- I use it in a two-story stone (thick walls) building with courtyards around and it works just fine.
- The antenna is a bit big and bothersome when you put it on your back.
- It could have a charger for everything and not need 10 outlets.
- It has a flashlight!
update 1 month
- Its headphones break very easily. but it has cheap replacements on the market
I have coverage in a 10-story underground parking lot. With its own antennas, the reception was impossible, but if you use larger antennas, the range increases significantly and it now works perfectly in such a difficult space. It doesn't handle drops well, but it's very cheap, so I don't really mind. Some extra adjustments were made with extra programming cable, but I believe that the others don't need them since they are specific to areas where the reception needs to pass through a lot of concrete.
Although it states that it has Voice Activation, this is not true. I tried all the methods mentioned in the manual and on websites that I searched, but it does not activate as it should.
A great device for amateur use.. simple and compact.. For anyone who tried to activate the VOX and couldn't, it can only be done with channel 5 (not from 1 to 5 as the instructions say).. Also, the 888s comes with headphones in the package for both wireless devices, so you don't need to buy extra ones.
I have bought about 18 pieces in the last 3 years, we use them seasonally in a catering business. 7 of them have had a problem with the on-off button, they turn on and off by themselves, resulting in lost conversation. Other than that, they do their job.
For those who write about the antenna. The antenna doesn't break... you just unscrew it from the wireless device and press it back in with a pair of pliers into the plastic until it clicks and that's it
Very good value for money. It is quite sturdy in construction and its range is very good (tested in both city and rural conditions).
Best seller is the Baofeng mini. We use them as PMR radios. Excellent sound, great range, small and convenient size, lightweight, good clip on the back of the receiver. Their flaws are known. Short battery life (especially when using high transmission power) and unfortunately some programming issues, as the software and special cable required for programming them sometimes do not work well with the PC. Perhaps it is due to their age and outdated chipset. You will figure it out after a lot of research. Unfortunately, a set of six that was recently purchased could not be programmed as PMR radios and ended up in the bin of useless devices.
Second purchase from DIN DON HOME. The store's service is beyond criticism and the delivery is very fast. As for the wireless ones, they are the most value for money we have used in recent years. They function in completely adverse conditions and an unfavorable environment, yet they withstand quite well.
Really good wireless for their price!
Much better range than expensive €100 PMRs. Of course, this has to do with their power, which is measured at 2W from YouTube videos and not the maximum 0.5W on PMRs.
Okay, what is written about how well they are covered when carrying them is true, but scanning the frequencies in my neighborhood, I caught 2 shops using them.
"Hidden" features that I tried and work:
1. VOX - "voice-operated exchanged" - Read the manual, it works great.
2. Scan of the first 15 frequencies - Read the manual, it works great.
3. Connection via baofeng cable to PC using CHIRP software and frequency settings to other UHF frequencies of my choice. - Watch a video on YouTube, it works great.
Happy with my purchase!
Excellent value for money. Better than many similarly priced products. The positive aspect is that all parts are available as spare parts.
Very good and reliable proposition. It's worth the money and more.
I would buy it again and highly recommend it.
For his money, it's all good, but only up to a certain point. If you're looking for something of higher quality, then you need to upgrade and check out YAESU, ICOM, or KENWOOD, and maybe even consider an ALINCO or ANYTONE.
I have purchased 4 and declare that I am very satisfied! It is very good for hunting, hiking, etc! It lasted me 3 days without talking full etc but it held up.
The joke is the wattage. It's not even 2.5W with a full battery. If this doesn't affect its usefulness, then it's a fair deal for the money. Its range within the city in buildings is very small (max 1Km) as UHF requires line of sight for performance. In open spaces and high points, it can go a long way (communication from a rooftop in Maroussi to a station on a beach in Aegina is easy). It mainly works well for use in buildings that don't require long distances. Anyone who wants to can add a better antenna (with higher gain) and achieve better results. That's it!
If you don't need them for professional use, take the cable and program them on your computer with the CHIRP software on the allowed frequencies.
It's better than I expected. It's not PMR and doesn't have PMR frequencies installed, so it can't communicate with PMR. It requires a radio amateur license. Also, change the frequencies that are installed because they are illegal. Take the cable for 12 euros to change the frequencies like I did while I am a radio amateur and have an SV license.
I am buying these specific wireless devices for the second time. I had bought the first ones 4 years ago. Out of the first 4, after bad use, falling from a height, measuring a ladder!!!, and many unfortunate incidents, 2.5 are still working!!!! What I liked about the new ones I bought is that the battery is now 2800mAh instead of 1500mAh that the old ones had. I consider them very durable as tools and with the use we make in the store. If you have the cable (I have it and it's convenient), you can adjust to all your frequencies so that you don't fall on Greek channels and suddenly hear a taxi radio. No interruptions or parasites. Personally, they have helped me a lot.
I bought it for professional use in restaurants. It works very well for its price in cafes, bars, and restaurants with normal music volume and noise. Unfortunately, communication is difficult in nightclubs due to the loud music and headphone quality. I definitely recommend it for everything else except for clubs. It's perfect for its price!
I bought the product for professional use, imagine in a recycling area for staff, the product has been in use for 1 month now and has been hit a few times but nothing has happened. Very easy to use and the headset provided is very convenient so that those around you don't hear. I have tested it at about 700 meters and it works perfectly, it is more than enough for our space. For its price, I consider it perfect and recommend it 100%.
