  It looks like a nice lock, solely because of the red plastic covering the lock.

  The plastic can be removed, revealing some holes and the inside of the lock, which disappointed me greatly.

  In terms of construction, it seems durable.

  As for locking and unlocking, when you unlock it, the key remains inside, and you have to close the fire and only then can the key be removed. It's like a safety feature to ensure that the lock is closed and not left open.

  2 stars because the plastic can be removed. I will come back with photos.

The latch protrudes very little and is difficult to catch, although it has a spring - and it pops out - unless you have a thick chain - like mine - where it gets stuck and requires pulling. The downside is that in order to lock/unlock it, the key needs to be on top, meaning you put the key - the latch opens - you put the chain - press the latch - and only then can you remove the key. This is difficult for me because I use it at an angle - in a difficult spot. The old one I had, you put the key - the latch opens - you put the key in your pocket - you pass the chain - and simply press the latch.
