I have a total of 5, no problem with any of the 5. Excellent for their price and for the purpose I bought them (to turn on the lights). They do not work for an alarm because they take time to reset and detect motion again.
The battery drains very quickly and the app does not provide accurate information about its level. Frequent disconnections that turn off the sensor and then to reconnect it, the pairing process had to be repeated several times. It is better to choose a more reliable solution.
I have 4 of them and as long as they work, they are ok BUT they go offline on their own without any other device connected to the sonoff zigbee hub having an issue. Sometimes they get stuck on detecting motion for hours when there is none. You have to reset them to get them back and re-register them in the routines. I do not recommend them.
They were purchased for automation through home assistant. Connection was made with a ZigBee tuya hub, with which the sensor never sent motion cleared, resulting in it not being able to be used. Afterwards, I read many reports on the internet with similar problems from users. Before throwing it away, I decided to try the native integration of home assistant by purchasing a sonoff USB dongle p (plus). It connected immediately and has been working flawlessly ever since! If you are indeed experiencing issues with this particular sensor, it may be a problem with the ZigBee hub.
I have purchased the product a month ago and so far it works as it should. I don't need to change the battery like I see in other comments. For its price, I consider it quite reliable.
With the instructions provided by user roa below, the device works perfectly. I have connected it to Home Assistant through SONOFF ZIGBEE BRIDGE. Perhaps the disconnections are due to the channel of your WiFi. Try changing the channel
Very good, expensive, fast in response and its battery lasts a lot. I don't know why I read comments about its bad battery. I have had it for 4 months already and the battery indicator is still on high (meaning full). Note: I have it indoors to turn on the lights on an indoor staircase. The cooperation with ZBBridge is flawless.
Described in one word: 'Garbage'. Stay away. I bought two, over 1+ month ago. They are the worst devices I have ever used. They do not have the range they claim in any case whatsoever. Even in the same room, without obstacles, outdoors (without other networks), both devices are out of network most of the day, at a distance of 1-2 meters from the zigbee coordinator. Out of the 34 zigbee devices, these are the only devices that behave like this. The 'you get what you pay for' principle would indeed apply here if zigbee devices were not already excessively overpriced compared to competing technologies.
You get what you pay for. Excellent product for its price. I have it as a sensor to turn on the lights in the room, and it's okay. From the moment it detects motion, it takes 2 minutes to send another motion detection. So if something passes in front of it, you will receive a notification, but if something passes again within the next 2 minutes, you won't receive one.
For now and after about 3 weeks of operation, the sensor works without any problem, while during its operation it did not send any false detection and I also did not notice any failure in real detections that were made in its monitoring area.
RE-EVALUATION:
Initially, I rated it with 5 stars, but now after continuous operation for 5 months, I saw one of the three sensors becoming useless and the other two occasionally getting stuck and needing a reset to function again. This happened at least 2-3 times, which means that in order for them to continue functioning, you have to constantly monitor their uninterrupted operation
Give some extra money to get something more reliable. Constant disconnections, freezes on motion detected, battery runs out quickly. If you're going to deal with the basics for so long, find something else and use your time more creatively. (I've bought 3, all dysfunctional)
The sensor works correctly but with specific rules. That's why some people may be disappointed.
I have 5 of them connected to a Sonoff ZB Bridge-P and they all work as expected.
After some experimentation, I came up with the following 5 rules:
1. When the sensor detects motion, it sends a "motion detected" signal and instantly lights up a red light on the sensor.
2. As long as the motion remains, the sensor "sees" it but, be careful, it does not send a new signal. Even if the motion continues for hours, the sensor will "see" it but will not send a new signal.
(This is very convenient for me because I installed a sensor to turn on the kitchen countertop lights. As long as there is motion in the kitchen, the lights stay on.)
3. If the motion stops but returns within less than 1 minute (e.g. I leave the kitchen and return after 50 seconds), then the sensor remains in the initial "motion detected" state and does not send a new signal.
4. If the motion stops or if the sensor does not detect it for 1 minute, then it sends a "no motion detected" signal and instantly lights up a red light on the sensor. As long as it does not "see" motion, be careful, it does not send a new signal.
5. From the moment it sends a "no motion detected" signal until it can detect motion again, be careful, approximately 5 seconds must pass. Once it detects motion, we return to rule 1.
The problems start if we use a "delay" function.
I'll give an example where the sensor will work correctly but it will appear as if it is not working correctly.
We set up a sensor to turn on the kitchen lights and create a routine "scene" where we add a 5-minute delay and then the lights turn off.
We enter the kitchen and the lights turn on normally.
However, as soon as the 5 minutes pass, the lights will turn off even if we are still in the kitchen.
This happens because the sensor has "locked" in the "motion detected" state and does not send a new signal (rule 2). But the routine is running and does not refresh as long as someone is in the kitchen, so as soon as the 5 minutes pass, the lights will turn off. And if they turn off, no matter how much motion we make, they will not turn on and it seems like the sensor is not responding. However, it is functioning correctly according to rule 2.
Therefore, it is advisable to avoid using "delay" functions.
For indoor use, it is very good, it has excellent connectivity with Alexa. And you can create routines - scenarios through the ewelink app or Alexa. The connection with Google was not as good
I don't know why some people have complaints. I installed it above the external door with a routine through Alexa when it gets dark and detects motion, it turns on a floor lamp in the hallway for 1 minute so I can enter the house. Everything I have bought from SONOFF and I have bought many things, all work flawlessly.
I have bought two of these for a year now, not satisfied at all. Within a year, I have changed batteries more than 7 times for each one (only reputable batteries), and even though it claims to have a full battery, it suddenly dies after a maximum of 10 hours. Once I change the battery again, it's okay for about a month. I will try using external power supply because it's not possible to constantly buy batteries.
It is not trustworthy unfortunately. It gave me false alarms and the siren went off for no reason.
Convenient as a concept, it immediately sends a signal to the Sonoff ecosystem, but the false alarm, and several times at that, disappointed me.
It is good for running simple routines with Alexa in a smart home. Not suitable for security sensors for alarm systems. After detecting motion, it goes into sleep mode for 1-2 minutes. It experiences some disconnections.
I will not say that I am thrilled by its sensitivity!
It is well constructed and easily connectable through the Sonoff application.
