It's still early, because I've only had it for 2 months but it does the job it needs to do. Good storage space on a personal PC and you can later put it in your server.
I have bought 4 of this model for use inside a NAS and they have been working without any issues for a year now.
I've been using it for almost two months on a camera recorder without any problems!!! Silent as if it doesn't exist, it's worth the money!!!
I received two 18TB disks yesterday and installed them with RAID 1 on an old TS-230 NAS. Everything worked flawlessly. Surely, if someone wants absolute silence in their space, it will be a problem, but for me, it's not. However, this is not a problem specific to this disk, it is a general problem with mechanical disks.
I will come back regarding the reliability of the disks in the next period.
I have had it for about 3 months and I am very satisfied.
I am using it with the "Icy Box Docking Station IB-1121-U3" (Code skroutz 40902467) and everything runs smoothly.
If something goes wrong, I will come back with an update.
The best value for money at the moment for high-capacity drives. I have been using them for a few months in my NAS (TrueNAS SCALE with ZFS) and they have satisfactory throughput, low noise, and do not raise temperatures. Will update in 2-3 years.
Excellent value for money if you want a very high capacity. 8 were purchased and installed in a NAS. So far, everything is good.
It has been working flawlessly for a few days now on a QNAP TS-230 NAS, along with an additional WD Blue 4TB and an additional WD Green 4TB in an external enclosure connected as Hybrid Backup. The impressions so far are very positive
I have two X18 18TB drives as single drives, for over 18 months. Their operation is silent, their temperatures are low, consistently staying at 22-31°C.
They have a high but stable (very important) Transfer Rate: 195-245MB/s. Average Write Speed: 215MB/s. An exceptional disk, with better performance than the X16 series.
P.S. Measured in Raid0 in Sequential Read: 430-440MB/s
The spin-up is not audible at all and they only make a muffled noise during recording/reading, which is not bothersome.
For the NAS Synology that I installed, it is excellent. It is noisy since I installed 2, but with a temperature of 38 degrees, it is excellent.
I bought 2 and they work in RAID1 as part of my 3-2-1 data backup.
They are currently filled to about 20%.
The noise is somewhat subjective.
The model is noisy compared to a standard PC drive BUT... I would say that in the enterprise category it is one of the quietest.
The spin-up is completely silent and they make a muffled noise only during writing/reading.
They are installed in a Dell R720 and so far they do what they promise in terms of speed and temperatures. If any issues arise over time, I will come back with an update to my review.
So far they are VFM with one of the lowest € per GB ratios.
If you don't know exactly what you are buying, prefer another drive.
UPDATE: After a year of daily use (almost 24/7), filled to about 70%, they continue to work flawlessly like the first day.
If something better doesn't come out soon, I will buy the same ones again.
Stay away from Seagate. It broke down in 2 years with minimal use. Get another company unless you want them for short-term use because they have low prices (and low reliability)
I bought 3 for DS920+. I have been using them for about 3 months and they work flawlessly 24/7 (read/write).
4 stars instead of 5 because they do make a LOT of noise (but it's understandable, they are meant for datacenter use and not for home NAS).
If any issues arise, I will update.
Very good and silent disk, something I definitely wanted. It has never gone above 46°C (measured with Hard Disk Sentinel) in the well-ventilated full tower case I have. It is quite fast for a SATAIII mechanical drive, but I haven't gone through the process of measurements and comparisons because I want it for backup purposes and not for everyday use
It was purchased for the QNap TS-230 NAS as it is compatible with supported hard drives.
The setup was not completed with a hard drive because it had a Read and Write Error, obviously DOA.
Seatools returned an RMA code.
An RMA return request was submitted to the store.
update:
- 27.12.21 delivered for inspection. Waiting...
- 07.01.22 The hard drive was replaced. Although I bought it to install it in the NAS, I will no longer take the risk, it will be tested thoroughly on the PC and then installed in the NAS.
I am upgrading the rating to 2 stars because it is functioning.
It passed the SEAGATE tests and seems to be quite fast and relatively quiet.
- 31.03.22 I am upgrading the rating to 4 stars. I am satisfied with its performance on the PC.

Stay away, broken on day 1 and they don't replace it.

For now, it works flawlessly 24/7 for hourly backup of my server.
