In the book - through a discreet demystification - we will ground expectations regarding artificial intelligence, without taking away any of our enthusiasm for the achievements in the field. We will also dispel irrational fears, and have fun with the much-publicized - and particularly distorted - stories about intelligent machines today and in the future. The book will attempt in its final chapters to capture the happenings in the field of artificial intelligence in Greece and the world today, a present that lays the foundations for an exciting tomorrow on a political, social, and technological level. In this depiction, we will propose ways for each of us, expert and non-expert alike, to take a stand and be able to co-shape artificial intelligence in the coming years in a human-centered and collectively beneficial way, far from conspiracy theories and closed communities. Above all, this book is called to highlight the human - in all his brilliance and darkness - in the background, but also in the foreground of intelligent systems. Even more, it will indicate how and why the quest for artificial intelligence is fundamentally a profound search into the depths of man, humanity, and humankind.
