I was looking for a keyboard that has backlit keys so that I can comfortably use it during the night hours. (something that the magic keyboard DOES NOT have - TRAGIC)

Also, I wanted something to accompany the MacBook Pro 16'' in space grey color. (something that doesn't exist in the magic keyboard)

After endless research, I stumbled upon this one by chance.
It is identical to the magic keyboard in size and half the price.

The keys feel great to the touch and it has been extremely convenient for me.

I had seen in reviews abroad that some people encountered issues like certain keystrokes not registering.

On the first day I received it, I put it to the test.

ZERO ISSUES in my own usage with the MacBook Pro 16'' M1 Max.
All the shortcuts work perfectly and the pairing with the laptop happens immediately in the first stage, and then you forget about it.

The only thing that might bother some people is that it takes 2-4 seconds to wake up if it goes into sleep mode, something that rarely happens to me as I rarely go beyond 30 minutes of non-usage for it to enter that mode.

Battery-wise, it's been performing very well so far with the backlight at level 1, which is more than enough for nighttime work.

At higher brightness levels, the impact on the battery will definitely be significant. On the official site, they mention approximate times of how long it lasts.

For me, it has lasted approximately 2 weeks with the usage I give it and I haven't charged it yet.

The good thing is that when and if the battery ever dies, it can be connected and used wired, so I won't cry over it if something like that happens.

If it had 20 stars, I would give them. Epic.

UPDATE - 13.4.2022 After a month and a half of usage and using the backlight at night on the first level, I still haven't charged the keyboard. EPIC.

UPDATE 2 - 21.1.2024

After 2 years and three months now, I still love this keyboard. It functions just like before. I haven't noticed any significant difference in battery life yet, and I haven't needed to use the cable except to charge it occasionally

Vfm. The only problem is that the Bluetooth connection is lost on the MacMini M1, especially when it wakes up from sleep mode. Other than that, it's worth its money.

Update: After 1 and a half years, the keys start sticking without any particularly heavy use. Be aware, those of you who choose it...

  Very good build quality. Probably metallic.
  I've had it for almost 2 years and I haven't encountered any issues with key sticking as other users have mentioned.
  Nor any problems with connectivity, although I mainly use it on Linux.
  A very important feature is the 3 profiles for connecting via Bluetooth to 3 different devices. Switching between devices is easy and quick. Also, obviously, it works with USB.
  The battery lasts a long time. I use it heavily every day and it lasts about a month and a half, sometimes even a little longer. Over time, its performance hasn't dropped.
  The backlight is also essential, with around 10 brightness levels.
  The anti-slip pads on the bottom have not worn out at all after such a long time.
  The size of the keyboard is very practical.

  The reason I rate it as average is that even though it is relatively small and compact, taking up little space on the desk, its purpose is to be purchased in order to avoid cables... It needs to be charged every 3 days with regular use... It is very good in all aspects, but the battery is an issue.
  On the mac mini m1, when you want to wake it up from sleep mode, you have to press it several times until the light turns on from the keys, quite annoying especially if you spend hours on your computer, typing.
  Honestly, if it wasn't so small in size, I would have replaced it... It takes 2-3 days for the cable to charge it... It's a shame because it is very good and beautiful in terms of construction.

  Generally very good, everything most people write about material quality, comfort and nice writing is true.

  PROS: Aesthetics, Quality, key mapping for MacOS, backlit keys, fn keys trigger lock.

  CONS:
  1. Bluetooth connectivity with the unit being under the desk. I have an issue with continuous disconnections, it is not sustainable when there is even a distance of 50cm from the device. It may be a low Bluetooth class to avoid quickly draining the battery, which is a shame. I am forced to use it with the cable.

  2. I still confuse the Return/Enter button with the "\" above it, hopefully I will get used to it.

  UPDATE: I bought a BT antenna extension coaxial for less than 10 euros, and it works fine. Look for them, especially if you have a motherboard BT connection and not USB.

  Excellent product, classic like all Satechi products. Incredible key feel, even better than the MacBook's (in my opinion). I come from the Satechi Compact Backlit, which is considered "better" because it has the numpad on the right, but I gave it away because I wanted something smaller and more compact. Since Apple didn't release a space grey magic keyboard, I had to get this one because I wanted it to match all my space grey products. It truly is exactly space grey, the build quality is excellent, durable, and just the right size. It is aimed at people who have limited space on their desk or simply want something minimal, "sacrificing" the presence of the numpad (if they don't use/need it). I bought it for exactly this reason, as I was annoyed that the mouse would hit the keyboard when I moved it to the left. In simple words, I would describe it as a space grey magic keyboard for those who don't want the original Apple one purely because of the white color.

  Awesome build quality. Works perfectly on Windows and has all the buttons, even alt ctrl delete... Press FN alt ctrl delete.
  Super lightweight aluminum, nice feel, and quiet.
  Works with both cable and battery, so if the battery fails at some point, you don't throw it away.
  It is the thinnest I have seen, even compared to Apple.
  The backlighting in such a size and aluminum is rare and very convenient.

  Update: The Bluetooth is simply incredible, we're talking about a distance of over 15 meters. However, be careful with the BT USB you will buy if your motherboard doesn't have it. Make sure to get a good quality USB BT adapter because in a well-known test I tried with a 5 euro BT 4.0, it didn't even work at 2 meters. A good transmitter is useless without a good receiver.
