Nice lamp, very good price, easy connection. The only downside is that if you want warm white, it has noticeably low intensity, and for that reason, it's 3 stars from me.
Edit: I am coming back as it seems it was just stuck, I did a factory reset and finally, the white is fine at a temperature of 3800K. Therefore, 5 stars.
Failure. I bought two of these on September 1st. I placed them in different parts of the house.
Within two months, one started acting like it was burning when I opened it and flickering for several minutes. At the same time, it couldn't use certain colors (something that, from what I saw on relevant forums, is very common and there is no solution). A minor inconvenience, I thought.
The other one was doing better. However, the day before yesterday, it started doing the same thing (like burning) and today it doesn't turn on.
Very good when they were working properly (1-2 months). After that, wasted money.
From connectivity, functions, etc. it is fine and works with the Yeelight app and MiHome. I just expected it to be stronger compared to other Yeelight products I have. Older models.
Quite quick and easy connection with the yeelight app and Google home. They have quite strong light, but I would prefer the stronger ones, depending on the space you want them for, of course. So far, after 2 months, I haven't had any problems.
And the second one I bought within a few months.... It can't be a coincidence, I have other RGB Yeelight models that have been working for years without any issues... probably the W3 model is problematic.
Ok, the bulb FINALLY worked... what I mean is: while on one hand it has the huge advantage that it doesn't require an extra controller like Phillips Hue, it's a hassle to set up. While the whole experience (download app, follow the steps) is very simple, at some point the app can't connect to the bulb. Not reset, not messing with the router, I discovered this ancient thread:
Okay, the situation is crying-worthy, like the Y2K bug or something. If your Xiaomi ID is larger than 4 billion and something (Int 32 Max), then it can't connect and perform the necessary firmware update. I tried everything mentioned in this huge thread, several times, but in vain.
Finally, what worked was instead of going through the process from the Yeelight app, I did it from the Mi Home app and it worked straight away.
The photo doesn't do it justice, but after overcoming the initial hurdle, connecting it to Razer Chroma was a matter of 2 minutes.
Bonus tip 1: the Yeelight Chroma Connector supports up to 4 devices.
The quality of the lighting it provides is excellent. When you adjust it to Warm, the brightness decreases quite a bit, but it gives off an ambient lighting that personally doesn't bother me for the use I make of it (floor lamp). The connection to the mijia home app in mainland China area was immediate.
Tragic application - not even in proper English...
Overall, while I have purchased other Yeelight products and with much effort managed to connect them through the application, with this specific bulb it gets stuck at 0% (despite having all the correct settings on the wifi).
It has become useless...
Edit 29/11
Suddenly and without reason, it stopped connecting to Google Home. Now I have to control it through the terrible application and I lost the voice commands. Thanks yeelight
Very good with good lighting and intensity in white colors. Connected directly and works perfectly! I had bought another one a year ago which also works perfectly until today. It also works with mobile data. At this price, it is definitely value for money.
Cold and hot my opinion. Let's say on the positive side that there are no connectivity issues and the process is quite easy.
It has several automations but not so smart. For example, some other ones I have from Blitzwolf, you can set various scenarios depending on the weather, sunrise or sunset, or your distance from the space they are placed.
However, the worst thing for me is the lower brightness. Since I also use it as a night light, I would like it to go a little lower.
I bought 5 of these since all the light bulbs in my house needed to be replaced, they were 60-70W incandescent bulbs. I had to buy an adapter from B22 (Bayonet) to E27 and I got this one here: https://www.skroutz.gr/s/21773721/Lucas-9004-Antaptoras-apo-B22-se-E27-Leyko.html
Lucas 9004 Adapter from B22 to E27 White. The bulb takes 0.2-0.3 seconds to turn on from the moment you press the switch. There is a noticeable difference to the eye in general.
They work fine, especially if you don't mess with adapters and get frustrated like I did. Connecting them to the app is a breeze if you've done it before, the whole process won't take you more than 1 minute. There was also a firmware update on all the bulbs as soon as they successfully connected to the local network, on channel 2.4G.
The only thing I noticed, and I don't know if it's my fault or just their philosophy, is that when you turn off the switch and there's no power going to the bulb, the app becomes unresponsive and the whole logic of the smart functionality stops. The bulb will only turn on again when you press the switch again. In other words, all the switches in the house must always be in the ON position in order to be able to turn on/off/change colors and temperatures through the app.
Lastly, on an iPhone 13 5G, the Xiaomi Home app is not the most perfectly designed application. It has its glitches, the menus go beyond the screen boundaries, and there are generally delays in commands.
The green and red lights of this specific lamp broke less than a month after purchase. For 10€, the brightness and colors were good. I could say it lasted only one use!
Well, the W3 is a better version of the 1S
(because the M2 requires a hub, while all the others do not require one)
And because the 1SE does not support Razer synapse
The main difference from the 1S is that the color transition is done in a smooth rainbow way
(The 1S and all the others do color transition like the classic LED bulb, meaning they simply make a quick jump from one color to another)
This specific one does color cycling with a larger color palette and also supports Razer synapse.
So, if you are thinking of getting a yeelight bulb
from the 1S, 1SE, and the W3, I would recommend this one.
The white colors are very vibrant, but the more color you add, the less power it will have. It is poetic and if I show it to someone who doesn't know, they won't believe it costs 14 euros. Through the app, you can turn off the lamp, change profiles, and add a bunch of effects like a fireplace. The colors are vibrant and the only problem I had is that I have to connect to the app with a Xiaomi account, which I really can't understand the reason for + it wants location permissions, which again I don't understand the reason for. 4 stars because whenever I open the app, Xiaomi knows where I am.
In the first 2 to 3 months, it was excellent, but then it decided to reset itself and became like a "regular" light bulb, neither the support helped nor anything, wasted money, I do not recommend it at all
In two months with minimal use, it burned out. Maybe I got a defective piece, but other models of Yeelight bulbs have been working continuously for years.
Disappointment to be honest. I have them in a relatively small bedroom, on the ceiling. There are three of them. The white ones are great and very bright. The colors are not so good. They are tiring to the eye and annoying to set up, especially if you don't have an assistant. Something to be aware of when buying is that it is quite thick at the base and may not fit in some fixtures, as I experienced and had to make changes. Also, one broke when I tried to screw it in and it got destroyed. I do not recommend it. Better LED strips.
Note: The manual doesn't mention it, but the music mode only works with the app open. Also, it doesn't display the correct colors with Google Assistant.
First experience with a led lamp! I was impressed by its weight and how good quality it looks. It gave me a little trouble in the connection and it took me a while to realize that I had to change the WIFI broadcasting channel in order to connect. Nevertheless, it has satisfied me because I can have low lighting during work hours without being bothered. I have it permanently in a low pink. The colors are not the strongest compared to white. It doesn't disconnect. It satisfies what I wanted though
Decent bulbs. The white is bright. The colors are not. It doesn't have the best application.
Good feature: there is a library called yeelight that allows you to access them and do fun things with the bulbs.
Awesome product! Every day we play with the colors and in every meeting with friends, it's a topic for discussion and laughter! We also have a Google hub and we have made half the house like this! Probably soon we will make it all!
To enter the Yeelight application, I was forced to change my password in the email. It took me 40 minutes to enter the application, but the lamp itself is good. I have only used it for two days. I give it a rating of 4 out of 5, only deducting one point for the application
Everything is perfect, no disconnections or problems with voice commands through Google Assistant or the app, it's perfect in every way. The only thing that didn't win me over was the color variety, besides white and warm. If we say that white is 100%, all the other colors are at 60-70% brightness.
I use it for auxiliary lighting and not main, due to its intensity. Very nice diffuse, with intense color depth. Easy connection (you open and close the lamp 5 times, connect to its WiFi and then to your home), a 1-minute setup. For its price, the atmosphere it provides is fantastic.
Fantastic bulbs at a good price! Particularly user-friendly through the yeelight or mi home app (schedules, scenes), although I only use the yeelight app for the bulbs. They work perfectly with Google Home and Alexa. Overall, I have 9 of them with no issues for years compared to previous versions.
