In one word. Amazing...
I have a 90sqm apartment and it covers the entire area with 5ghz. Since I have a 1gbps fiber optic line... I will upload a speedtest with my mobile so you can see the speed I have in 80% of the apartment. And to be honest, I have it in a very bad spot, at the edge of the apartment, and I didn't expect to see such performance... If I move it centrally in the apartment in the future, I expect this speed in every corner.
In terms of features, it's great. I have set up a private VPN, I have an FTP server from the router itself, AiCloud...
It only has one serious bug. When you manually select the frequency for the 5ghz, it takes a while for the wireless network to boot up. I have submitted a ticket to Asus to look into it.
Get it with your eyes closed. It's worth every last euro.
Visually, it is the best router I have seen on the market, but in terms of performance, it is the worst I have tried. It does not have good range at all, you have to be close to it to get a signal, which is very strange considering it has 8 antennas! And it is unjustifiable for the 400 euros I paid. Normally, this should have coverage throughout the house and the entire neighborhood as it claims! What's the point of someone spending a fortune on it? What will they get? My previous router is a Tenda AC23, which I only paid 41 euros for, and yet it offers better signal coverage in my house! Normally, you shouldn't compare one with the other based on the price, but still, this one with 41 euros is better than the one with 400 euros in terms of range. Now I have returned it for a refund! Unjustifiable!! The whole company, ASUS, with such a big name, and it falls so low? I didn't expect this! Also, on their website, it says that their router is faster than the 802.11ac protocol, by 2.8 times! It's not true because when I tested ASUS's OFDMA technology with the 802.11ax protocol in the next room of my house, ASUS's router only reached 20 mbps in Wi-Fi speed, while Tenda's router, which is cheap, reached 50 mbps, half the speed I have with my provider because my connection is 100mbps fiber to the home. If anyone intends to buy it, it's not worth it, you will spend a fortune without any results. Get the Tenda AC23, it's cheap and efficient compared to this overpriced one that ASUS sells. What a waste!
