The King C. Gillette Style Master replacement blades and their regular replacement will help you have an equally smooth face after shaving as with a new razor.

I used the Gillette Fusion Proglide with the same cartridge for 3-4 years. It was getting incredibly difficult lately, and I needed to go over the same spot more than 3 times to shave properly, and it still didn't give a close shave. As if that wasn't enough, on the third day when the hair had slightly grown, I had to first use my electric shaver (Philips BG7015) and then switch to the Gillette because it would struggle without the first step and would cause me injuries. Overall, it had exhausted me.
I decided to change my approach and see shaving as a hobby, something I would enjoy, and not as a chore every 4 days. As you can see in the photo, I bought the following set:
• Proraso Pre Shave Cream Azur Lime 100ml
• Proraso Eucalyptus Shaving Soap 150ml
• Proraso Shaving Brush with Boar Bristles
• Axe Gold After Shave 100ml
I won't describe the shaving process since I am still a beginner and don't know much, but the procedure is very clear, and the following video helped me a lot: [YouTube link]. It taught me some details I didn't know, like the fact that as a first step, we shave the hair "as it grows" (usually downward for many) and as a second step, against the grain (usually upward).
So, this particular razor has the right weight, a good texture on its handle, and securely holds the blade in the center, giving a sense of confidence during the motion. As soon as I put on the first cartridge, it aligned automatically without leaving uneven gaps on the right and left sides of the locking head - I mention this because I had read in some reviews that it was crooked or had a misaligned blade. The shaving process lasted 1.5 minutes instead of the 7 minutes I needed with the old and worn-out Gillette, and only one pass was required. I was amazed. I highly recommend it if you are a beginner and have always used the typical razors found at supermarket checkouts, or if you simply want to see shaving from a different perspective.
P.S. As soon as I did the second shave the next day, I went to a supermarket and bought it as a gift for a friend who saw me shaving and wanted to try it himself. It truly is worth every penny!
Update 26/5/2023: I changed the blade as it started cutting me in multiple places. Now shaving is like a game again. With the first blade, I did around 90-100 shaves to test its limits. The conclusions I reached, at least for myself, are that it comfortably provides 20 shaves, maybe even 30 at most. If you are patient with the first pass, you might be able to get a few more. After that, it cuts unnecessarily in many places, which is annoying and time-consuming. I should mention that I don't have coarse facial hair, and it doesn't grow quickly.
I will update the review as I become more familiar with its usage and the combination of the aforementioned products with the traditional shaving machine.
Good machine, it has a good grip and good weight. The razors that come with the machine are the reason why I give it two stars, they are just plain plows, only good for plowing in general. They have good blades, I don't know how they managed that.
I hadn't picked up a safety razor for about 14.5 years. The one I had previously unfortunately got lost in a move, and since then I never went through the process of replacing it. Until the moment I randomly saw this particular one from Gillette in an advertisement. And since coincidentally the lost razor was an antique Gillette, I decided to buy it.
I've been using it for a few weeks now, I've done about 8 shaves with it.
The feeling is that you are holding a sturdy and well-balanced tool which, if handled carefully, will give you a very good shave
It is a very good razor especially for its price I just think it could have a slightly better contact with the skin other than that and in terms of weight perfect
Recommended as a "value for money" option for daily shaving. Combined with Muhle Double Edge Replacement Blades, it offers a solution for effective, gentle shaving, with minimal cuts and low cost.
Very good machine especially for the money, just the blades don't cut at all, you will need to get others
The best I've ever gotten from Gillette...the best by far razor, it shaves deeply and leaves the skin very smooth
For the money, it might be the best thing someone can buy if they want to try a safety razor. Sturdy construction and with sharp blades like Feather, it does a very good job.
I can say that for a beginner it is good, but it needs to change blades because its own do not cut at all, I recommend the feather or perma sharp, it does not give a close shave even with these blades and even if you shave against the grain, I am thinking of changing it and getting this time some open type, Finally, when I go to shave the underside of the neck, it requires quite a few passes
Just received it now.....the first impression is positive.....the shaver is sturdy and not made of light metal as I initially feared....I will come back in the next few days to share my impressions on its shaving performance....
Nice razor. Bad blades. I combine it with Astor from BIC and the result is very smooth. Minimal to zero redness. After 6 months of use, it has a few rust marks where it screws in, so when you finish shaving make sure you dry it well.
I give 5 stars so as not to unfairly judge the safety razor. Easy to use, easy to clean, the double edge helps in utilizing the entire blade. On the other hand, I believe that Gillette blades do not cut hair as easily as other brands, wear out faster, and I feel they cause irritation to my skin.
My first razor, I bought it to try this shaving method. Very beautiful but also very soft, you don't cut yourself at all but it takes effort to shave. For its price, I can say it's worth it but I wouldn't recommend it to someone to buy. I believe that for anyone who wants to start, there are two options, the Rockwell 6c or the Muhle R 89 which is similar, and if you want something sharper, just attach the head of the R41 and you're ready. Now, as much as I want to use it, I have it almost permanently on the side.
Very good quality and economical, not for a deep shave that would make a razor or a simple razor but more for a facial cleaning. Otherwise, I recommend it
First of all, I have an Indian razor of medium aggressiveness that shaves me smoothly with Astra blades, which I use, and with Feather for an even better shave. I decided to try a milder one and got the Gillette... after two shaves with Astra blades on a two-day beard, I took longer to shave due to repeated passes. I also tried sharper blades and it worked better. My conclusion is that it is only for daily beards and for experts... it only works with sharp blades for up to two shaves at most, after the third shave it shaves as if you have used a mild blade. Personally, I went back to my old one
Very good closed type razor. It is gentler than the lord l6 and ideal for someone who shaves frequently or has no experience with this type of razor. The weight, material quality, and design make it value for money.
For someone who is starting now with wet shaving, it is just what you need, I would recommend getting blades: Permasharp, AND, Feather, because it is a mild razor that requires aggressive blades
I bought it after thinking and reading the reviews.... it's worth its money... incredible shaving and without expensive replacements...
Very good purchase for its price (finish, weight, size). Ideal for beginners like me in wet shaving. Combined with a blade (the choice is completely subjective), it provides a very nice shave with 2 passes. I would describe it as mild to very friendly. For entry level, it is perfect for experimenting, trying different blades, soaps, brushes, etc. Also ideal for those who want a daily shave. I highly recommend it.
Undoubtedly, it is one of the best razors in this price range. Sturdy, beautifully constructed, easy to use, especially for a beginner, and it delivers on its promises. It is ideal for someone who wants to start traditional shaving, although I would recommend pairing it with other blades, such as Astor.
Well, let me start by saying that when it comes to shaving, this machine was the best purchase I have made, as it introduced me to the world of traditional shaving, which I loved from the first moment and I recommend it to all men and even young men who shave. Because we are talking about a much more economical and nicer way of shaving. Well, my first machine was this one, I got it when I was 20 and it is very good for its price, I have to say. The blades it comes with personally do not shave me, so I would recommend you also get a set of blades, and for good and bad, I would recommend Astra. As for the shaving experience, I wouldn't call it a sharp machine, but if you're not careful, it will cut you well. So always be careful, of course. I would recommend it mainly to beginners because it is economical and gentle. So yes, get it and start traditional shaving, and if you go back to Gillette razors that cost €15 for replacement cartridges, well, poke my nose
Ideal machine for anyone who needs to be permanently shaved or is starting now.
I have been dealing with traditional shaving (razor and machines) for a while and I got it for fun. It fits perfectly with Astor blades and generally with aggressive blades. The ones that come with the machine have mediocre results (I used them with the razor and they were very good) as well as the rest of the mild blades.
To get cut, you have to make a big technical mistake and personally I don't have any irritations.
It sticks to many soaps and preshave is not necessary.
Easy cleaning, sturdy construction.
The best for beginners in the field! With a sharper blade, it has nothing to envy from more expensive machines.
For the average user, I don't think anything more is needed. One could start using brushes, foams that you put in a bowl, ridiculously expensive aftershaves, etc., but that becomes a hobby, not something that will make a big difference.
I use together:
Bic razor
Nivea foam with cannabis
Nivea aftershave.
My face becomes like a baby's, sometimes I may get a little cut, but it doesn't bother me, I clean the blood, apply aftershave, and neither does anything show nor does it hurt.
Expensive for what it does. Relatively well-made with a large handle and weighs about 101 grams. The chrome-plated surface, however, strangely still slips even with wet hands. I would say it is somewhat mild in shaving, but with aggressive blades that I use (Persona Medical and Feather), it is very comfortable to shave with without causing any injuries. However, it remains an expensive machine.
Heavy iron, about 100gr
Not aggressive at all, it has a fairly large gap and rinses easily.
Good choice for beginners and advanced users for frequent/daily shaving.
As for the negatives, the handle and specifically the non-slip engraving.
The handle has engraving only on the upper half, the lower half is smooth, without engraving. No problem if you hold it upright, but if you hold it upside down (e.g. against the grain shaving), it slips! It fell once, but luckily nothing was damaged.
Being a beginner in traditional shaving, I decided to buy it as my first machine. It is good enough for the beginning when you are still learning the process, the direction of the hair, the dosages, etc. However, afterwards, I realized that I needed something more efficient. It definitely does its job for its price and someone deserves to get it. As for its blades, use them to understand. Personally, they didn't suit me.
I gave it 3 stars because unfortunately, it requires a lot of searching for someone with a tough beard to find the right blades for shaving. Also, it requires many repetitions for a close shave, and after a while, it becomes tiring on the wrist because it is heavy in construction.
