I used the Gillette Fusion Proglide with the same cartridge for 3-4 years. It was getting incredibly difficult lately, and I needed to go over the same spot more than 3 times to shave properly, and it still didn't give a close shave. As if that wasn't enough, on the third day when the hair had slightly grown, I had to first use my electric shaver (Philips BG7015) and then switch to the Gillette because it would struggle without the first step and would cause me injuries. Overall, it had exhausted me.
I decided to change my approach and see shaving as a hobby, something I would enjoy, and not as a chore every 4 days. As you can see in the photo, I bought the following set:
• Proraso Pre Shave Cream Azur Lime 100ml
• Proraso Eucalyptus Shaving Soap 150ml
• Proraso Shaving Brush with Boar Bristles
• Axe Gold After Shave 100ml
I won't describe the shaving process since I am still a beginner and don't know much, but the procedure is very clear, and the following video helped me a lot: [YouTube link]. It taught me some details I didn't know, like the fact that as a first step, we shave the hair "as it grows" (usually downward for many) and as a second step, against the grain (usually upward).
So, this particular razor has the right weight, a good texture on its handle, and securely holds the blade in the center, giving a sense of confidence during the motion. As soon as I put on the first cartridge, it aligned automatically without leaving uneven gaps on the right and left sides of the locking head - I mention this because I had read in some reviews that it was crooked or had a misaligned blade. The shaving process lasted 1.5 minutes instead of the 7 minutes I needed with the old and worn-out Gillette, and only one pass was required. I was amazed. I highly recommend it if you are a beginner and have always used the typical razors found at supermarket checkouts, or if you simply want to see shaving from a different perspective.
P.S. As soon as I did the second shave the next day, I went to a supermarket and bought it as a gift for a friend who saw me shaving and wanted to try it himself. It truly is worth every penny!
Update 26/5/2023: I changed the blade as it started cutting me in multiple places. Now shaving is like a game again. With the first blade, I did around 90-100 shaves to test its limits. The conclusions I reached, at least for myself, are that it comfortably provides 20 shaves, maybe even 30 at most. If you are patient with the first pass, you might be able to get a few more. After that, it cuts unnecessarily in many places, which is annoying and time-consuming. I should mention that I don't have coarse facial hair, and it doesn't grow quickly.
I will update the review as I become more familiar with its usage and the combination of the aforementioned products with the traditional shaving machine.

I hadn't picked up a safety razor for about 14.5 years. The one I had previously unfortunately got lost in a move, and since then I never went through the process of replacing it. With its own blades, it offers an incredibly close shave without any irritation at all. The shaving result is comparable to a professional shave at a barber with a straight razor. You can now find them in several supermarkets, but I wish we could easily find the replacement blades from Gillette as well. The result made me order other well-known blades from the company since I never saw such results with the well-known and famous Feather, Astra, etc., despite their reputation. So I decided to try the Gillette blades (Platinum and Silver Blue). For me, the company, although completely commercial, is worth it, and the razor is much cheaper compared to the famous razors available. For €15, you get results that are the same or even better, I would say, than a famous razor costing €40-60. I found my razor, and unfortunately, the other 2 razors will stay in the drawer.

Razor:
First of all, I have to say that it has a quite sturdy construction and overall it is a very beautiful and elegant razor. Its weight and handle are perfect (at least for me), although some others would prefer the spiral design to continue all the way to the bottom of the handle, which personally didn't bother me much. The head doesn't expose a large part of the blade, which scared me because I thought the shaving wouldn't be as deep. However, I was wrong, the shaving it provided was deep enough and at the same time I didn't have any cuts or irritation in the end.Blades:
I don't really understand the hate for these specific blades. The shaving I did (2 passes: one with the grain and one against) was deep enough and didn't leave a single hair behind. Maybe some of those who negatively commented got a faulty blade, who knows...Conclusion:
For its price, I consider it the ideal razor for beginners and it is a good start for someone to begin traditional shaving.Shaving was done with:

For its price, I can say it's worth it but I wouldn't recommend it to someone to buy. I believe that for anyone who wants to start, there are two options, the Rockwell 6c or the Muhle R 89 which is similar, and if you want something sharper, just attach the head of the R41 and you're ready. Now, as much as I want to use it, I have it almost permanently on the side.

I decided to try a milder one and got the Gillette... after two shaves with Astra blades on a two-day beard, I took longer to shave due to repeated passes. I also tried sharper blades and it worked better. My conclusion is that it is only for daily beards and for experts... it only works with sharp blades for up to two shaves at most, after the third shave it shaves as if you have used a mild blade. I have been dealing with traditional shaving (razor and machines) for a while and I got it for fun. It fits perfectly with Astor blades and generally with aggressive blades. The ones that come with the machine have mediocre results (I used them with the razor and they were very good) as well as the rest of the mild blades.
To get cut, you have to make a big technical mistake and personally I don't have any irritations.
It sticks to many soaps and preshave is not necessary.

Did you find this review helpful?I want to share my experience as a beginner. I wanted to try my hand at shaving with this type of razor (+ brushes, soaps, etc.). I ended up choosing this one after doing some market research mainly because:
- It has a low price compared to others.
- It has very good reviews (rightfully so).
- It is of good quality for the price, sturdy, stable, and you can feel it as soon as you hold it in your hands.
- It is recommended for beginners because it is mild and safe.
After testing it out, I am now on my 8th shave (I'm starting to get used to it) and I have figured out the shaving/strength/angle pattern that works for me.
It cuts nicely and deeply, without too many nicks (I made a few mistakes on the 1st and 2nd shave, but since then I haven't had any issues... it's all about getting used to it).
I should mention that I don't use the razor blades it comes with, but instead I use:
- Astra Platinum Double edge (I think it's perfect for me, very satisfied)
- Permasharp (Very sharp)
I will also try Wilkinson Sword classic.
In conclusion, I bought the related brushes (Omega) + Proraso (soap).

The chrome-plated surface, however, strangely still slips even with wet hands. (I tried its own blades with the Rockwell 6C. They had satisfactory results on my skin, but only for one use.) First try with Gillette 7 O'clock blade. The machine struggled a lot, especially in areas like the chin and neck. It takes multiple passes to get a result. With PermaSharp and Bic Astor, things went better, but unfortunately, it still requires many repetitions to shave properly. Certainly, a beginner could buy it due to its low cost, but with an additional 10-15 euros, one can get a Razorock Mission, for example, which is a very good razor that will definitely give you a close shave. At this point, I would like to note the following: The razor I am currently using is the Rockwell 6C, which is essentially 6 razors in one, simply excellent (a must-have). My first razor was a Lord L6 (LP1822L, cost 6 to 10 euros), which, due to being made of aluminum, quickly damaged its threads, resulting in the handle not tightening properly with the head. I'm not trying it out, thinking it might fit in the handle of the Gillette King C. Indeed, it fits perfectly, and the razor transformed (see photo). Its weight changed, and I tried it with Bic Astor, and the result was amazing!!! In conclusion, I would only recommend the Gillette King C for a travel razor, in combination with a sharp blade. At home, I would use a more expensive safety razor for a more efficient and enjoyable shave.
