“I have been writing and illustrating children's books since I graduated from art school, but I had never thought of drawing something for adults until I had my children. I didn't want all those hilarious and beautiful moments of their childhood to be lost like they were taken by the wind. I felt that the only way to capture them was through quick sketches, something like a diary with pictures, if you will. These sketches were mostly done extremely early in the morning, with a coffee in hand, my sketchbook on my lap, with the boys climbing on me and 'borrowing' my pencils.
I hope that, apart from the complete exhaustion and absolute pandemonium that characterize motherhood, I managed to depict some of the magic of this entire period.”
