Stunning image quality for impressive photos.
The M.Zuiko Digital 17mm 1:1.8 (34mm*) lens offers impressive image quality, combined with low weight and very small dimensions. Its extremely large and bright 1:1.8 aperture facilitates taking photos with attractive background blur and allows for tripod-free shooting in low light conditions, thanks to the image stabilization mechanism found in the bodies of the new Olympus Micro Four Thirds system cameras.
Beyond the extremely bright 1:1.8 aperture, this advanced wide-angle Micro Four Thirds lens also impresses with its unique mechanisms for Snapshot Focus and Movie & Still Compatible (MSC) autofocus, as well as the special ZERO coating for high-quality results.

I have been using this lens for over a year with my OMD 10 MK III and OMD 5 MK III. I bought it for 365 Euros and I must admit that it is worth its price. It is ideal for landscape, street, and family photography. In my opinion, it has very good sharpness and color rendering. I usually use it at f/2 or f/2.8, but even at f/1.8, it gives satisfactory results. It has a solid, all-metal construction, but unfortunately, it is not weather sealed. I recommend it, especially now that its price is affordable.
I have had this lens for 5 years and I mainly use it with small Olympus bodies from the 5 and 10 series. I use it primarily for street, travel, and family moments and it is just what I need.
With the mf clutch for manual focus, it is useful for video projects as well.
I bought it for 549 euros initially, but now that it has dropped to 449 euros, I believe the price is more reasonable now.
The only drawback is that it is not Weather Sealed, although it has a quality metal construction.
Very good lens. Its focal length is ideal for a general-purpose prime lens. Ideal for night photography. Compared to the 12-40 f/2.8, the only reason I would prefer it is its minimal weight. It balances very well on the camera, gives style, and does not tire. You focus more on framing and not on zooming. In terms of photo quality, I would prefer the 12-40 2.8. Although it is a zoom lens, the photos taken with it surpass those taken with the 17mm.
This lens is the best choice to replace your kit lens.
Lightweight, bright (which helped me a lot in low-light situations without using flash), very good sharpness, and satisfactory background separation from your subject.
With a 2X crop factor, the focal length is equivalent to 34mm in Full Frame, ideal for street photography, your travels, landscapes, and group photos.
I have it paired with the Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark III.
Its downside is its price (500+).
(There is also the option of the equivalent f2.8. Smaller, but from what I have read, less sharp and you also lose 1 stop of light, which is important for 4/3 cameras that have a 2X crop factor).
A little pricey on the market, but once you attach it to the camera, it compensates with every shot. Five stars only!
Amazing 35mm road bike.
Small, lightweight, fast, sharp, and why not, gorgeous
