What is an instant water heater?

The instant water heater is a type of water heater that heats water in real-time. It only heats the water that passes through it at that moment. There is no hot water storage tank. This has many advantages, such as energy savings, since only the water that is used is heated, and longer lifespan, as there is no water tank and no accumulation of salts on the resistance and other components.

It operates with electricity and is single-phase.

How It Works

The instant water heater has a cold water inlet pipe, which passes through the resistance, heats up, and exits through the hot water outlet pipe. A necessary condition for the instant water heater to initially operate is the pressure of the cold water inlet should not be too low.

The water temperature is regulated by a thermostat, so it does not exceed a maximum value. The temperatures that the hot water reaches are preset so that one can use the hot water directly without needing to mix it with cold water.

The maximum temperature that can be reached for hot water production is 60 °C, while the maximum water flow rate reaches up to 3.5 liters per minute. Indicatively, 38-42 °C degrees are standard for shower use.

Advantages of an instant water heater compared to a classic electric water heater

  • It is small in size and does not take up much space.
  • There are no energy losses, as only the water being used at that moment is heated. Therefore, we save on the electricity bill. In a traditional water heater, the hot water that is not used goes to waste.
  • The hot water used in the instant water heater is used as is, without mixing with cold, as happens in a traditional water heater. Thus, we also save water, in addition to electricity.
  • There is no need to wait for the water to heat up. As soon as we turn on the tap, hot water flows in a few seconds. The traditional water heater takes a few minutes, depending on its size.
  • The hot water never runs out. As long as we have the tap open, we will have hot water.

    The product did not work after installation. There are no instructions or contact phone number. Maybe it's not worth checking if the product doesn't have any issues. The installation cost (for me 40 euros) is high and it's not worth testing. Also, the box was damaged.

    edit: In the end, the wires at the back did not make good contact, I fixed it myself but I will use it with caution by turning off the power before using hot water. The water heats up quickly and there is a temperature indicator

    It belongs to the category of Sunday joy and Monday sorrow, or otherwise known as unreliable. Not that it doesn't work or that it doesn't heat the water satisfactorily. It does these things. Its problem is the very low quality of its construction, which is not apparent at first. However, after two months of use, the interior has rusted (either the resistance, the casing, or both), resulting in the water that comes out, whether hot or cold, being dangerous to drink, cook with, or even wash dishes. Asking for a replacement is a waste of money, as you will receive the same thing, and after two months, you will want to change it again (and spend another 40 euros on a plumber to replace it).
