Description
Quad Rollers of the company Rookie in red color. Quad Rollers are the classic four-wheel skates, with two wheels in the front and two in the back, usually with a rubber brake in the front. They have a wider base, which provides uniform weight distribution, while their wheels are wide and flat without angles. This makes them more stable and possibly preferable for amateurs. You can easily make turns by slightly shifting your body weight to the right or left. Suitable for smooth surfaces, they offer manageable speed in a straight line, but are not ideal for those who want to move at high speeds. They help build self-confidence, balance, and control. Their design puts less pressure on the ankles.

I hadn't been on skates for about twenty years. So I got beginner skates, as I should. These are for adults, they are not adjustable, they have a fixed size.
The most important thing for beginners is that it hugs the foot properly, especially the ankle. The boot should be stiff enough so that you can shift your weight to the inside and outside of the foot, and your foot shouldn't "play," it should have a stable path. I was satisfied with the stiffness of the boot. It is as stiff as it needs to be to support a beginner's foot. The seams look strong and the padding on the tongue and Achilles is satisfactorily soft so that the laces of the skate don't cut into you. It doesn't have a notch for the ankle to bend like skates for more advanced users, but a beginner doesn't need that. On the contrary, it's better for the ankle to stay stable.
The second important thing is the base of the skate. These are made of plastic, which means that they won't last as long as skates with an aluminum base. However, I noticed that while it is supposed to be that the base doesn't change, it might actually be possible. The screws are there, I don't know how easy it is. Maybe the boot is glued and doesn't come off after all, but it probably does come off. Anyway, these skates are for up to 60 kg. If you are over that, after a long time, the base might break. But you might have progressed enough in practice by then, so you won't need beginner skates anymore and can get something more expensive for intermediate skaters. So don't find this a deterrent for now; there’s a reason skates have difficulty gradations. Usually, as you progress, you change skates because you specialize in the skating you want to do. The brake also has a screw, so it can obviously be adjusted. I found it at the right height for me and haven't touched it for now.
The third thing is the wheels. These are 82A, they are soft, which means they work for both floor and road. The suspensions (not mentioned in the description, they are the red plastics in the photos) are made of polyurethane and have a hardness of 85A. Good for both road and floor as well. Just maybe on the floor these skates won't go as fast, but for a beginner, that's the best.
Overall, I found them very value for money, the name suits them as well. They are indeed for Rookies, for beginners. Just right, for someone to start without paying an arm and a leg. And if later you decide that you want a softer skate because your feet have practiced balance and you want more flexibility in turns, you can look for something else. This skate is perfect for a beginner and someone who wants to skate casually. I highly recommend it.Translated from Greek ·Did you find this review helpful?
