The kit consists of a homebase that connects to the household network and two wireless cameras that can be placed anywhere away from the homebase, without any connection issues. The package also includes accessories for wall installation of the cameras. The image quality is high both during the day and at night. The application is simple and user-friendly without any glitches. It sends instant notifications as soon as there is motion, and the cameras have the ability to distinguish human figures from other objects and pets. Very convenient to avoid unnecessary notifications. Both the homebase and the cameras have a built-in siren that can be activated through the application. The camera batteries simply never run out! An excellent choice at a very good price!
In the positives. The cameras do not require electricity.
The cameras send an image at a distance of at least 7 meters with rooms in between. Good image quality day and night. Good application with many settings.
Now, in the negatives. It does not record for 24 hours even though the base has internal memory. The cameras do not last for 6 months. They only last for 3 to 4 months with battery-saving settings. When the cameras are turned off or the power goes out, the base needs to resynchronize them, which is not necessary with other cameras I have. You press two buttons to connect them, but it becomes tiresome when it happens frequently due to power outages, etc.
The system is programmed to distinguish humans to avoid unnecessary notifications, but it does not work well. Sometimes I don't receive any notifications even when I walk in front of the camera.
Conclusion. After several months, I believe it is very expensive (260 at the time) for what it offers. If you are not interested in an autonomous camera, you can find something better for less money.
The positives of these cameras are that they can be placed at a great distance from their base and do not easily disconnect, while their battery lasts about 3-4 months. Unfortunately, even though they are set to detect only humans, they trigger for everything. I receive 30 notifications every day from each camera for dogs, cats, squirrels, shadows, branches, and even birds, which makes them completely useless as I no longer bother to open the notifications since I know I will see the neighbor's cat or any other living or non-living thing passing by... Of course, the one time something actually happens, I won't notice it as I will consider it just another false notification.
Perhaps it could be a good choice for indoor spaces, but definitely not suitable for a yard with pets, as it cannot distinguish between humans and animals or branches, no matter what it claims.
Quite good cameras, clear image and great range for wireless cameras. I would like to be able to choose not to receive alerts for dogs, etc. Because you can't choose this everywhere. Otherwise, the wireless camera has a great battery life of 3-4 months (depending on alerts), instant notification.
6 months later: The initial setup is easy, as long as you follow the manufacturer's instructions exactly. When it says 1 - 1.5m distance between the base and the camera for the initial synchronization, it means that at 2m it will be difficult to "catch" the audio signal between the devices. After that, it has a good range, although I use the 2 cameras that come in the box quite close to the base (one 2m above the base and the other 4m away, behind a wall).
The app has quite a lag, probably because the device is not a high-end construction that does 15,000 things to have a decent processor. So, there are occasional moments when it may give an error when trying to view a camera, but it recovers after a few seconds. Most of the time it works flawlessly.
Also, due to the lag, if you try to speak through the app and be heard by the camera, the voice is heard 1 - 2 seconds later, and if you continue to hold the microphone button, the base will start to have serious network issues, reaching a dead point for a while.
The lens is quite powerful.
Although it is the first time I use this type of equipment at home, I have to say that the battery surprised me pleasantly. It may not last the advertised 6 months, but it easily reaches the 4-month mark if you set it conservatively. So, there is no need for continuous activation when you are at home (this is the default factory setting), but they can still be activated by motion, for example, from 00:00 to 08:00. With a full charge in about 6 hours, I consider it a good compromise.
As for the app, it is quite good and clear. The notifications come instantly, and there is even the option to have a screenshot in the notification, so if you are satisfied with what you see, you don't even need to enter the app. The internal memory in the base can store recordings for up to 3 months, and there is no way to expand it locally (there is cloud storage option, but I haven't explored it much, as it requires a subscription).
Note: In custom mode, the maximum recording time the device can write is 120 seconds, and then there must be at least a 5-second break. This doesn't bother me at all (I have it set to 60 seconds with varying break times), and I know that the limitation is due to the effort to extend battery life, but for some people, this may be a serious issue.
In conclusion, I consider it a good purchase, and if the prices of standalone cameras drop, I will probably expand the network (the base can support up to 16 cameras).
Very good application, flexible and expandable system - I have added both the doorbell and several other sensors and additional cameras, the batteries actually last for several months (I can't know exactly how long since I am still on the first charge, but I can see it from the rate at which they drop over the weeks), you can use it without spending a single euro for cloud services, etc., but you also have all these options if you desire. If I have to find something negative, I would write about the intensity of the alarm, which I would rather describe as moderate.
The price-quality ratio is very good.... It helped me and I found a predator that had bitten me a lot. Very good image quality and very good iPhone APP. The battery doesn't last as long as it says, but definitely 2-3 months depending on the alerts. I highly recommend it without hesitation!
I will give it 4 stars because I haven't installed it in the space and location I want yet, so I don't know exactly how far it detects motion. However, in tests inside the house, it is quite fast in detecting motion and sending updates.
I am currently working on a project to extend the battery life using a PowerBank, and I will come back with an update.
Update: There are these devices from Sonoff (https://www.skroutz.gr/s/23914807/Sonoff-USB-Wireless-Smart-Adaptor.html) - there are also similar ones from Tuya, which essentially allow you to remotely control a powerbank to provide power.
The positive thing is that when you see that the camera battery is low, you can turn on the switch using the ewelink application and charge the camera. This way, you don't have to permanently connect the camera to the powerbank to keep it at 100%, which affects its lifespan.
The negative thing is that the Sonoff operates at 0.02A. This means that if you use a 20000mAh powerbank, then in approximately 41 days (ideally), the powerbank's battery will be depleted. So you will have to charge it close to every month. The times increase if you use a larger powerbank, but the dimensions also increase.
I was searching for something to meet my needs for 3 months. I will say straight away BECAUSE it amazed me UNBELIEVABLY!
1. The cameras don't need electricity, I didn't have an outlet in mind, so I needed something with a battery that lasts for months! While the HomeBase can be placed anywhere, far away from the router as it can connect wirelessly with it (just like with the cameras, of course).
2. Incredibly user-friendly mobile app, I receive notifications as soon as there is motion. And of course, everything is configurable through the app (whether it will notify you for motion or not, the mode of the cameras, even turning on the flashlight from your phone!)
3. The cameras have audio and a speaker! I can speak from afar through the app and the person standing under the camera can hear me! For me, this is PERFECT for the job I wanted it for!
4. Very good wireless communication, I have stone walls with a thickness of 60cm and the HomeBase communicates perfectly with the cameras and the router, even though they are all in different places and far away!
The price is great for what it offers. Personally, more than happy!
Very good system, reliable (generally true for Anker) with an app that is easy to install and use. For me, the killer feature is the battery life. Of course, usage plays a role, but so far I haven't experienced any deviation from what the manufacturer claims.
