Toners that fall under the Lexmark Return Program are printing toners sold at a reduced price, in exchange for the customer agreeing to use the cartridges only once and return them only to Lexmark for remanufacturing or recycling. These single-use toners stop functioning when they reach the end of their rated life, as determined by Lexmark (there may be a variable amount of toner remaining in the cartridges when replacement is required). These toners can also automatically update the printer's memory to protect it from non-genuine and unauthorized products.
