The camera has excellent image quality and features.
Because I see some negative comments, you should know the following:
1) The connection should be made ONLY on 2.4GHz.
2) In wifi, you should also change the Mode from mixed to simple in case you cannot connect.
3) Because many times it does not scan the mobile screen, try scanning the barcode at the bottom of the camera. (In case it scans but does not make a connection, check steps 1 and 2 above.
4) The power supply should be at least 2.1 amps to avoid any issues.
5) In case you extend the USB cable with an extender or by cutting the existing one and adding an extra power cable, and you notice that the camera, even though it has a good signal, loses connection sometimes, try changing the cable because it may not properly transfer the power load.
I already have 4 Xiaomi 1080p cameras for which I had given 1 star in a previous review for the same reasons that I mention in this one. Overall, they are amazing in everything (build quality, ease of installation, clarity) but they lack in terms of security. And this is because of the following:
Firstly, I should mention that it only has two sensitivity settings for notifications. In the low sensitivity setting, it will only send a message if a large object moves (e.g. your car in the garage but not a motorcycle). In the high sensitivity setting, Xiaomi claims that it captures everything - and it actually does!!! Even flies!!! - and it sends a notification only when it detects a human silhouette... And here is where the security drawback comes in. The minimum time that needs to pass between one notification and the next is 3 minutes. However, if for example a fly passes in front of the camera at 12:00, it will record it in the "alarms" menu but it will not send a message. But if a person passes at 12:01, it will also record it in the "alarms" menu but it still won't send a message! It will only send a message if a person passes after 12:03. So if you place it behind a door, it will record the opening or violation as an "alarm", but when a person enters, it will also record it but you won't receive a notification because the door opening has already been recorded and it hasn't been three minutes since the first "alarm" recording. At the entrance of an apartment building, it even captures shadows or the lights of cars two streets away!!! So it should have another sensitivity category where it only notifies you when a human silhouette passes.
And now that I'm done with the common flaw of both the old and new Xiaomi Mi cameras, let me be more specific about the 2K camera. The only two reasons why I decided to buy it are the communication with other cameras through the Mi Home app and the "Baby crying" function. I have nothing to say about the app. It works fine. However, the Baby crying function never worked. Not for me, not for thousands of other users (I did a simple Google search and found out).
Another negative aspect is the lack of a charger (it only comes with the cable). Moreover, it requires a 5V and 2A charger. You will also need a memory card to view past footage. So the price you see is not the final price.
I hope I was clear and helpful.
You can't get anything better for this money, even at night it looks very good. Setting it up on the Xiaomi app is a bit strange, it's better to watch a YouTube video
Easy installation and connection. Very good image and sound quality. It helps that it has an audio output so you can talk from your mobile, which is convenient if you have a pet.
The worst thing to throw your money away
Perfect operation for a year and a half to the point where it has never moved
After a year and a half, disconnections every day
It has destroyed 2 SD cards
To pair it again, it tells you to connect to its network, which never appears on the wifi list and when it does after 20 resets, it doesn't connect
And if you manage to do it, the next day it disconnects again
Well, the camera worked as it should for 2 years and I have to say that it is a very good camera. However, for the past 2 months, it disconnects from the network every day and does not reconnect. The only way to get it back online is to unplug it from the socket and plug it back in. I can't understand what is happening with the camera and it doesn't work because when it does, it seems to be functioning normally. I have tried resetting, etc., but it's no use.
As other people mention, this specific camera is the worst Xiaomi has released. I have 5 cameras with 1080p and I am really satisfied. I bought this one supposed to be 2K and it shows like 480p, and as if that wasn't enough, it has burned 3 SD cards. The worst purchase. Choose the 1080p ones (C400 C200) blindly better.
I have had it since it was released. This camera is not even 2k, but not even 360p. Neither day nor night has a clear image! In indoor spaces without light or with light, it pixelates, so you cannot clearly distinguish faces. And motion recording lasts very few seconds without a card! I had put a card but it burned it! Xiaomi has produced much better.
I have had it for 4 years and suddenly it started to malfunction with any ssd I put in it. It started to not let me see even the motion detection it used to send every 5 minutes when something passed by. In short, it is only for live viewing unless I subscribe it says.... That's why I give it 1 star. Thank you.
In everything it is good, but this annoying voice is heard when it cannot find a wifi network, which cannot be disabled! The first Xiaomi Mi Home 360° that I bought 5 years ago also works exceptionally well, fortunately it does not have this voice notification feature.
Despite the closed monitoring circuit I have at home and at the office, I have also purchased 3 Xiaomi cameras. They always function without ever being disconnected in the last 3 years. Of course, they are connected to WiFi mesh (only connected to 2.4GHz, not 5GHz). Before the mesh, I constantly had disconnections, even on my mobile phone, due to the long distances from the router.
I read from other users that if you don't pay a subscription, Xiaomi doesn't send you motion detection notifications. I haven't noticed anything like that. The notifications work perfectly fine even today, although I don't know if it matters that I have an SD card in each Xiaomi camera.
The minimum time between notifications is 3 minutes. That means if it detects more than one motion within a 3-minute interval, you won't receive further notifications.
I have also set it to save recordings to a network disk (NAS) that I have, so there is no limitation on the volume of recordings.
You can set a password to access the camera (Face ID also works, at least on the iPhone).
I consider the image to be very satisfactory even at night.
Another positive aspect is that you can set automations, for example, when it detects motion, it can activate a light or any other smart device connected to the application.
Apart from the fact that it suddenly asks for 5 euros to send notifications, I changed the router to the same company Vodafone and it cannot connect. It literally drained my soul. Stay away.

I'm coming back and maybe someone will be helped. Eventually, I connected it to the router after seeing someone on YouTube saying not to try to connect the camera at night. It needs daylight, and in order to achieve it, I turned on all the lights and directed a projector onto the camera. That's how it connected.

Because I changed providers and this time it took my soul to connect the camera. Eventually, after many attempts, I managed to do it after downloading the Xiaomi application on the tablet, from there the camera was able to read the QR code. I'm saying these things to help someone who has bought it, otherwise it's not worth the trouble to buy it
I have 4 cameras. One by one, they gradually started to not read the SD Card that I had put in them - initially, I thought it was the SD card's fault, so I bought new cards.
In the end, all of them lost contact with their SD cards and asked me to register for Xiaomi's service.
Relatively expensive camera.. Overall, at first I didn't have any problems but after a while suddenly continuous disconnections.. And overall, you can't find any help.
In the end, every week it asks me to reset the device so that I can reconnect if it lasts a week..
I'm sorry but it's a waste of money..
In terms of image quality, the 2K it claims, personally I don't see it..
But at night it is very good.
Regular theft, pulling and lawsuit. We bought so many Xiaomi cameras, assuming that they supported surveillance function. Suddenly, they turned the function into a service and ask for a subscription. Devoted Xiaomi customers do not deserve such extortion. No subscription, nor will I ever buy another product of theirs.
This particular camera truly does it all and is very affordable. Its installation is extremely easy and its setup as well. I am a professional installer and I frequently install it in offices, hair salons, cafes, etc.
Very good image quality, even in low light conditions. However, the application is very bad. It constantly freezes! There is a delay in transmission! Many times the camera doesn't even open in the application! One of the worst apps!
The best value for money, I have several cameras and I can say that it has been working flawlessly for a year now without any disconnections or freezes!
One star only because after a period of time, Xiaomi asks for a subscription (5 euros per month) in order to receive motion notifications, which makes it useless no matter how good it is. Simply unacceptable from a company like Xiaomi. Their sales need to drop for them to realize it's a wrong move
I have already bought three. One is older. Although they are good overall for simple space monitoring, the problem starts if you need features such as motion detection notifications, etc. After a while, it asks for a subscription to provide such services (I'm not referring to recording storage but notifications) and the worst part is that they do not connect with any other smart home application that all provide such services for free...!
Completely unacceptable. This is almost not true for any other company... I researched it a lot.
There are others at a better price, with more features, much better application, and they connect with all applications...
Xiaomi recently stopped the ability of the cameras to send notifications when they detect motion, etc., unless you purchase a subscription. They also sent a related notification. So, the 4 Xiaomi cameras that I have no longer fulfill the security purpose for which I bought them. So be careful. Until now, I was satisfied.
The worst camera. It loses its connection on its own and you have to configure it again from scratch. Seriously, stay away.
At the same time, I also bought the Xiaomi 360° 2K Pro and I was using them together. That one hasn't lost its connection, neither during power outages nor if the internet goes down.
Pros:
- Easy installation
- Very clear image during the day
- Excellent night mode
- The app is very easy to use on both mobile and desktop
- Person detection works even in low light and odd angles.
Cons:
- The microSD card has a limit of 32GB, which translates to 3 days of recording in 2k resolution. Essentially, it forces you to purchase Xiaomi's cloud storage package to have a 7-day history.
I don't know about the baby crying feature because I don't have a baby. The camera was purchased exclusively for indoor use and it is excellent for its price. However, I would not recommend it for outdoor use for security reasons, as the alerts are delayed by 3 minutes. So if a person or a car passes in front of the camera, it will take 3 minutes for the camera to react. This is not a significant issue for indoor use. If you are concerned about shadows, insects, etc., you can simply disable motion detection and keep person detection. Motion detection is indeed very sensitive. Every day at 6 in the morning, the camera captures the sunrise as motion.
Regarding video storage in the cloud, instead of paying $4.99 per month, you can install the desktop app on a PC and connect the folder to Google Drive. This way, you can have a history of incidents for as many days as you want. The cloud is only worth it if you need continuous feed.
Excellent product with low cost for its capabilities. Flawless resolution day and night. Only issue is with the sound when functioning as a speaker and speaking through remote connection. Xiaomi equals guarantee!
I bought it to monitor our newborn baby. Overall, satisfied with the camera's simplicity of use. Easy to use, good image and sound quality. However, if you dig a little deeper, you will find that some extra features of the camera do not work properly. Like the Baby Crying feature and others... Unfortunately, after 3 months of use, problems started to occur. If there is a power outage or if I need to unplug it, the camera will not reconnect to the network (2.4) and I have to reset it and reinstall it through the Xiaomi app. It's a very tedious process. I called Xiaomi customer service and they told me that it "doesn't retain memory" in simple terms, and I have to return it to the store where I bought it for a replacement.
Update: The store where I bought the camera (online store) was closed, but I was assisted in other Xiaomi stores. They replaced the camera through the warranty. No more problems, I am very satisfied.
Satisfactory analysis, moderate lens range, and often activates without any movement in the area. When there is movement in the area, it is not certain that it will record it... It often "loses" it. Overall, it is not satisfactory for monitoring your space.
Two stars because it has a huge disadvantage that no one mentions.
It doesn't show you an image unless you have the mobile data, only if you connect to a wifi, which is not even mentioned on the company's website if you search for it.
Supposedly, you need it when you are outside of your house or a store, you receive a notification and you have to rush to find WiFi to open the camera.
I have three different Xiaomi cameras and the same thing happens! If you want it to receive motion detection notifications, forget about it. If you're lucky and the notifications come, they are usually wrong because even the slightest change in brightness from the window triggers it, even though I have enabled person detection!
