The resistance is satisfactory (at least if you do 20 minutes or more) and there is no noise from the mechanism.
There is a slight noise when pedaling forcefully from the front foot support due to its elliptical design and the plastic cover touching the floor at an angle. When I noticed it, I placed a mat underneath and now there is no sound.
