As others have mentioned, you need to be careful when tightening during installation so that the fittings don't get damaged since they are entirely made of plastic. I recommend putting a few rounds of Teflon tape on the screw to help it tighten well without risking the fittings. I noticed an immediate difference in the water; it became completely odorless due to the activated carbon. We had issues with pimples and rashes on our bodies, which have now disappeared! That was also the main reason I bought it because it filters heavy metals from the pipes and the poor water quality on the islands. It also helps with scale, but that is not its primary use. Change it every 3-6 months depending on your water consumption.
