If you're looking for puzzles that offer not only a mental challenge but also a good dose of fun and laughter, the Jumbo puzzles from Jan van Haasteren's collection are made for you!
For decades, Jan van Haasteren has been creating highly colorful humorous illustrations for the Jumbo brand, with attention to detail. No surprise then that Jan van Haasteren's puzzles have become the undisputed winners in the comics category. Most fans of his creations will immediately start searching for Jan's trademark – the shark fin, which you can find in all his puzzles! However, you can take on the challenge to try and find other themes that appear in many of van Haasteren's works – Santa Claus, hands belonging to no one sticking out of a wall or from the water, prosthetic parts, or self-portraits of Jan van Haasteren. Will you succeed in finding them all?
Over the years of Jumbo's collaboration with Jan van Haasteren, a rich collection of puzzles has been created, ranging from 150 pieces to those consisting of 5000 pieces. Each year this collection grows with new designs.
Some interesting facts about Jan van Haasteren… Jan is a passionate collector. He can't part with anything! After completing yet another humorous story, he creates an exact copy of the sketch for himself because the original must be delivered to Jumbo. Over the years, Jan has amassed quite a stack of sketches and drawings. His "professional folder" contains all the letters he has ever received or sent regarding his work, as well as all correspondence with fans, whether they are devoted fans for years or those just beginning to discover his work. Jan knows the details from each of these letters and can recount the story behind their sending.
Jan sometimes makes personal appearances in his puzzles and comics. Normally, Jan tries to draw fictional characters rather than people he actually knows. However, on occasion, Jan includes his self-portrait in his drawing. Jan calls this the "Hitchcock effect," with the famous director also having small roles in his own films.
Jan never assembles "his own" puzzles. However, he is willing to help his wife when she can't find one of the pieces. To his own surprise, he is able to identify every piece and put it in the correct place. He even remembers exactly how he created each detail of the picture and why he placed it there and not elsewhere. And this is true for all the designs he has created!
