Description

The rockrose is one of the most important herbs used in ancient Greece as well as in many other countries in Europe. It has the highest content of polyphenols of any plant in Europe, with an astonishing ability to destroy free radicals and high antioxidant activity.

The stem and leaves contain balsamic resinous aromatic substance, labdanum, which has organic compounds called labdanic diterpenes that exhibit antimicrobial and cytostatic effects.

It is a healthy herb that, in the form of an infusion, offers its beneficial effects. It uses the green leaves of Cistus, where its beneficial action is concentrated. It is used in medicines to relieve the stomach and the digestive system.

It limits the oxidation of blood lipids, increases levels of "good" cholesterol, and reduces "bad" cholesterol, which is responsible for the formation of atheromatous plaques. Thanks to their anti-inflammatory action, they reduce the likelihood of thrombus formation.

The rockrose has the ability to destroy free radicals that cause oxidation and are a factor in the premature aging of the skin. It also limits oxidative damage to tissues, enhancing the body's resistance to cancer.

How to use:

  • Soothes irritated skin with neurodermatitis or acne.
  • Use diluted tea as a lotion twice a day for 4 to 6 weeks.
  • Consumption of Cistus tea (1 liter daily for detoxification).
  • Dosage: 10g of tea in 200ml of hot water, let it steep for 5’ covered, and then strain.
  • Application of a paste made from boiled Cistus leaves for bacterial infections, hemorrhoids, and allergies.

It is also used as an essential oil for aromatherapy. It is a bee-friendly and aromatic plant.
