I bought the refrigerator on 10/25/2024 to replace the older model GB7143AVRW (you can find it on LG's website under old models), which was approximately two meters tall and 60 cm wide. With great disappointment, I realized that LG is taking steps backward in the construction of refrigerators at a level that can be perceived by the customer. More specifically:
    1) Usable volume. Although the old one was 385L and the new one is 384L, in practice, the internal usable volume of the new refrigerator-freezer is much smaller. The same exact items transferred to the new refrigerator do not fit, while there was even a little extra space in the old one. Unfortunately, I had not seen the refrigerator up close to measure it with a tape measure and I trusted the technical specifications listed on the website.
    2) The lighting of the old refrigerator had 2 LED columns that ran vertically along the back, illuminating all the shelves to the back, while the new one has a simple ceiling light, resulting in poor visibility, especially on the lower shelves and more so at the back of them (I am attaching photos of old vs new).
    3) The old model had a special drawer in the freezer with an ice maker that would empty ice into the drawer with one motion. The new one does not have this arrangement, but only an ice tray, and now that I see it up close, I understand why: it is much smaller to accommodate the ice drawer. More specifically: internal drawer width of old vs new model: 44.5 cm vs 39.5 cm, which is very reasonable considering that the old freezer has an internal width of 49 cm vs 45 cm of the new one, which is narrower internally by 4 cm. (I am attaching photos of old vs new).
I am very disappointed with this LG refrigerator-freezer, a company I have preferred for most of my household appliances (2 A/Cs, 4 TVs, dishwasher & refrigerator). I feel that I got much less than what I paid for (€1,199), moreover, it no longer meets the needs of my family of four, and I don’t know what to do with it. Perhaps the disappointment is due to the fact that the old refrigerator was so good, to the extent that I am considering putting it back in its place and putting the new one in the vacation home...

It is efficient as long as you make sure not to cover the air vents. However, it is a bit noisy when the fan is running

It seems that in refrigerators, the different energy classes are more clearly distinguished from each other compared to other white goods, where the differences in consumption are not as significant. Seeing how quickly technology has advanced in refrigerators in recent years and how much the price of electricity has increased, I decided to buy a new one. Because I am skeptical about nominal consumption values, I decided to conduct systematic seasonal measurements before purchasing a device. The first step was to measure the consumption of the previous refrigerator, which was a 15-year-old (or maybe less) Whirlpool with a height of 1.70m. I wanted to see what I should expect in relation to the nominal consumption of newer refrigerators. This particular LG has a nominal consumption of 110 kilowatt-hours (KWh) per year.

Since refrigerators have consumption that varies constantly both per minute and depending on the season, the method I followed was as follows:
    1) I connected a meter and left it connected to the refrigerator for a week.
    2) I measured the consumption in KWh and converted it to an annual consumption rate (KWh/year) for that specific period of time, as this is the number given on energy labels today.
    3) The experiment was conducted twice for each refrigerator: once during a warm month and once during a cold one. The LG was purchased in March, so I didn't have a colder month available, while the experiment started in September of last year, so I didn't have a hotter month available.

    The results were as follows:
    Whirlpool: September 545 KWh/year. November/early December: 250 KWh/year.
    LG: Early to mid-March: 89 KWh/year. Late June/early July: 170 KWh/year.

Roughly speaking, the consumption is one-third of that of the old refrigerator, even though it was significantly smaller.

Other than that, the refrigerator is fine. Although tall, its compartments are not huge (except for the freezer, which was much larger than what I'm used to), maybe because it has very thick walls, but it is sufficient for two people. I would prefer it to be somewhat shorter, but surprisingly, in this energy class, there was nothing below 2 meters in height at the time of purchase (March 2023). It cost around 1340 euros back then. Also, the position of the door handle is low and somewhat awkward. If you are tall, the handle is not very convenient. If you are short, the upper shelves are not very convenient. Details? Perhaps. But if you are going to spend that much money, they might interest you.

Is it worth its money? I'm not entirely sure. In the sense that its price is high for the benefit of its very low consumption to be quickly amortized, while at the same time, the B energy class offers refrigerators with not much different consumption. But on the other hand, no one knows how long this story with electricity price increases will continue. If you buy it, you may be one of those who would like to feel good knowing that they have done everything they could to defend against the choices of those who have not done everything they could to put an end to energy speculation.
