• Plant sterols are found in vegetable oils and cereals. Consuming them in an amount of 800 mg daily helps maintain normal cholesterol levels in the blood.
• Plant sterols have a similar chemical structure to cholesterol, affecting its reabsorption from the intestine. Cholesterol is normally secreted into the intestine via bile to aid digestion and is then reabsorbed and enters the bloodstream. They compete with cholesterol for reabsorption from the intestine, resulting in reduced levels.

Warnings - Precautions:

• Consumption of more than 3 grams of added phytosterols daily should be avoided.
