Well, before I proceed with the evaluation, let's make it clear that this is a small and simple HDMI to USB dongle which, although it does its job correctly, its purpose is by no means to replace equivalent dongles that cost 100€. Perhaps a bit unnecessary comment, but I want to make sure that we have defined the price category we are discussing and where it belongs.
Now, onto the evaluation!
It is (almost) flawless!! The image it produces has nice colors, Windows recognized it immediately, no issues with drivers, the build quality is perfect and quite beautiful, I must say... Overall, as I said, flawless!
However, it seems a bit expensive to me! What do I mean... Nowadays, there are dongles on the market for 11€, and for someone who needs them for simple use and not for something important or professional, this particular one is probably unnecessary. In the end, you don't gain anything extra with it since it doesn't have any special features. ...USB 2.0 like all dongles in this price category (yes, ignore the blue on the USB, it's purely for aesthetics), maximum recording resolution is 1080p 30fps just like ALL the other dongles (the big 4K sign on the box means it can "read" up to 4K 30fps, not that it actually records in 4K), and the lag is still significantly present despite the extra 20€ I paid to get this one instead of the others (for 11€). Now, look it up* and decide for yourselves what is better for the use you want.
I repeat, it works perfectly fine, I just feel like it's trying to deceive you with its price, especially with the blue USB "3.0".
*(at 30€, also check for any of those with a second HDMI output to simultaneously send the signal to the screen, as this significantly or completely solves the problem with live preview lag)
Excellent. It does its job as it should. Fully compatible with OBS and plug-and-play. Very good for streaming as other capture cards cost twice as much or more.
Pay great attention. The description of Scroutz is wrong. This specific product is used as a Capture Device for gamers, not to expand your workspace onto an external additional screen. Great disappointment
