It can hold weight from above, but the drawer doesn't 'slide' smoothly. It's not a terrible problem, of course. It has worked very well for me and it holds up!

Very convenient for organizing, especially if you have large shelves. The plastic pieces that come with it are very useful for checking if it will open from both sides or if it will have a stop, and you can also connect two or more together. It is stable and durable. I highly recommend it.
