ONE NIGHT IN AUGUST
August 25, 1957: The leper colony on Spinalonga closes, followed by a celebration for the occasion in Plaka, the village directly opposite. The healthy meet the recently cured, and together they eat, dance, and celebrate this great moment of liberation from fear and disease.
A NIGHT WHEN TIME STOOD STILL
Everything freezes, however, when two gunshots are heard. Anna falls dead. And the closure of the colony will forever be linked with the tragedy.
TWO FAMILIES MARKED BY FATE
The question is how those left behind will continue to live. Her sister Maria, Anna's husband Andreas, her lover Manolis… How will they face the stigma and the scandal. How will they build a future on the ruins of the past.

I did not like neither the writing nor the style of the narration.
Watch the ERT series. It was narratively and dramatically superior!
The characters in the book were colorless and rather unfinished.
Gift from my children for my birthday, as they knew I had read and been impressed by her other book "The Island". The truth is, I was disappointed. I expected more things. Yes, it outlines the other characters but... something... is missing... I don't know what. If it wasn't the continuation of the previous one, I wouldn't bother to read it
Very nice book. Fantastic plot that keeps you hooked until the end. The book arrived very quickly from the store
Having read "The Island" many times before years ago, I was thrilled when I found out that its sequel had been released. It was small, easy to read, and quite enjoyable. I liked that it delved into the characters and what followed after Anna's death, rather than solely focusing on Maria, as it had done in "The Island". This was truly interesting. Additionally, it answered questions (such as what happened to Manolis, who was Sofia's father). I liked it and highly recommend it!
Nice writing style, keeps you in suspense, I would definitely recommend it
Having read the book, I was expecting something different... I can't say that it thrilled me, a little boring
