Description

I wanted to progressively build a worldview where I always distinguish what I can speak about with some degree of certainty from what I do not know. Our goal should be to push the boundaries of knowledge as far as possible while being aware of our weaknesses. I believe it is dangerous for our societies to become alienated from scientific and technical knowledge. We must equip them to at least judge their significance and the implications of their application. I hate moralizing and vagueness. I think that even moral problems have a technical dimension that we must understand in order to live better, of course having first identified the epistemological limits of such an approach. Scientific and technical progress is useless and even dangerous for societies that are unworthy of managing and directing them. Even the most perfect legal system is ineffective without free compliance with moral rules. The lack of spiritual values cannot be compensated by material goods. The decline of societies can be understood as a weakening of the structures and institutions that allow the formation of a stable value system of common acceptance and ensure the effective and safe circulation of information and knowledge. Just as an airplane is not a bird, a computer is not a human mind. It is difficult for me to imagine how creations can surpass the intelligence of their creators. However, it may be possible to tame and subdue it. And this is a terrifying scenario that I would not even want to imagine. It was my desire and responsibility to write about the importance of knowledge as an intangible entity, separate from physical entities, and the need to understand the processes of its development and application. To show how new concepts and models from Informatics help us delve into the functioning of individual and collective consciousness. How the various structures that compose our societies define above all information systems, whose smooth operation depends on the unobstructed and timely exchange of reliable knowledge. I hope this work is the beginning of the reader's initiation into the concept of knowledge, its multiple forms and uses. To provide them with the tools to see the world through the epistemological prism, the compass to act correctly as an individual and as a citizen. I.S.
