Jack Courtney has lived his entire life in the United Kingdom. This summer, however, his parents are traveling to the Democratic Republic of Congo for a wildlife conservation conference and, as they had promised him, they have taken his friends along with Jack.

When, completely unexpectedly, his parents disappear into the dense rainforest, likely victims of kidnapping, no one seems to be able to help. Jack is sure that their disappearance is related to their research on tantalum mines, but he must prove it. Along with Amelia and Zander, Jack must navigate the inhospitable jungle to save his parents. On his way, he will encounter many obstacles – one of which is a member of his own family, his cousin Caleb Courtney.

In this unknown and dangerous world, beyond gorillas, elephants, and hippos, there are also ruthless bandits, mercenaries, and poachers. The three friends will need all their courage, intelligence, and composure to save not only Jack's parents' lives but also their own.
