  Many people buy it to provide internet to their laptop or phone through a cable. I bought it for the opposite reason, to give internet from my phone's data through a cable to a computer, specifically to a peripheral with an Ethernet cable.

  It works perfectly, as soon as you connect it to the phone, go to settings > connections > mobile hotspot and tethering, and the option "Tethering via Ethernet" turns on. We select it to be on, and our phone provides internet to the device we connect it to.

New mobile phones have type-C, while older ones have micro USB (which is also the case with the tablet in question).
