In this book, I attempted to show that the crisis that shook Greece has its roots in the structure of the political and social system and the country's lag. Greece's entry into the EMU required continuous reforms to adapt the country to the new environment. The political and social leadership either opposed these reforms or followed an inadequate adaptation policy.

The consequence was to widen the gap between Greece and the developed countries of the Eurozone, thus exacerbating the negative effects of the different levels of development. The insufficient adaptation and the competitiveness gap caused and reinforced the crisis.

The course of the European Union has directly influenced and continues to influence social and economic developments in Greece. But the Greek crisis also gradually affects the Eurozone more and more. In this mutual relationship, the successive decisions of the Union's bodies played a primary role after 2010. The book describes the entanglement that arose, the commitments, and the plans of both sides. Finally, it refers to the possibility of a future smooth path to overcome the crisis.
