Description

- Is the attainment of well-being a long-term life goal or a daily way of living? Or perhaps both?
- Can one learn to thrive, or does well-being depend solely on external factors such as our genes, the way we were raised, the society we live in, or the economic resources we have?
- During our lifetime, can we only have moments of well-being, or can we now, in the modern evolution of humanity, hope that we have the means to appease our "demons," in the sense of Aristotle's eudaimonia, so that we can thrive and develop both as individuals and as societies?
- Does the attainment of well-being require us to be healthy, or is well-being a fundamental prerequisite for promoting our mental and physical health?

These questions are addressed by the book "Conquering Well-being: Positive Interventions, Techniques, and Experiential Exercises" in a theoretically and empirically substantiated manner, yet accessible and understandable to the general public. The book is an innovation in the existing literature on the promotion of mental health and personal and collective development, as it gathers numerous positive interventions, techniques, and experiential exercises that have been established, applied, and evaluated in the international scientific community. The book includes a plethora of techniques and experiential exercises with specific instructions for practical application to individuals and groups. Additionally, there is a special reference to positive interventions applied in the fields of health, organizations and workplaces, education, family, and community. Since well-being is ultimately a good that is cultivated throughout life, the book particularly focuses on the role of positive education in promoting well-being in the broader school community, at all levels of education.

The aim of the book is not to propose a modus operandi, but to offer the general public, professionals involved in the promotion of mental health and personal and collective development (psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, counselors, educators, occupational therapists, etc.), as well as students of humanities and social sciences, those practical tools that, with the appropriate framework, can contribute to the promotion of well-being, both at an individual level and in terms of positive relationships with others and group functioning.

The authors of the volume: Eleni Gastouniotou, Vasiliki Giotsidi, Katerina Zymni, Dimitris Theodosakis, Konstantinos Kanellakis, Irini Karakasidou, Emilios Karamanlis, Katerina Kotsoni, Fani Koudigeli, Agathi Lakioti, Maria Malikioti-Loizou, Anny Benetou, Antonis Tsirikos, Anna Papadimitriou, Christos Pezirkiadis, Irini Petratou, Christina Sergianni, Anastasios Stalikas, Vicky Charalambous.
