The Apple HomePod Mini is aimed at users who want a small and affordable, yet powerful and high-quality smart hub for their home.
The smart speaker HomePod mini by Apple has a small size with a height of 3.3 inches. Additionally, it offers 360-degree sound so it can be heard in every corner of your space.
The HomePod mini allows you to enjoy your favorite music selections and more. Through Siri, you can control various smart home devices using the HomeApp, and if an iPhone comes close, its screen will automatically display that the HomePod mini is playing.
The HomePod mini has a minimalist design in a ball shape to fit anywhere in your space. Its shape and the fabric mesh that surrounds it allow sound to pass through it. Additionally, the backlit touch surface on the top allows you to control it.
If you place more HomePod mini speakers in your space, you can create a complete sound system. Ask Siri to play a song everywhere or a different song in each room.
If you are listening to music or a podcast and need to continue, you can do so on your iPhone without missing a beat, simply by bringing your iPhone close to the HomePod mini.
The HomePod mini also works with other Apple devices. Receive an incoming call from your iPhone, listen to music on your Mac, or elevate the sound on your Apple TV.
Siri is the smart assistant that makes the HomePod mini the center of your family's activities in your space. Whether you need to get updates on daily activities, control your smart devices, or simply listen to your favorite song - just ask Siri.
The Smart Hub is a device that serves as a central control point for your smart home devices. It typically connects to the internet and uses wireless communication protocols, such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Zigbee, to communicate with other smart devices, such as smart lights, thermostats, security cameras, and more.
The smart hub can be controlled via a smartphone app, a web interface, or even through voice commands using a virtual assistant like Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. It can also automate actions based on user preferences, such as turning on the lights when someone enters a room or adjusting the thermostat according to the time of day.
One of the advantages of using it is that it allows for easier control and automation of multiple devices from a single interface.
Overall, a Smart Hub can help simplify the management of a "smart home" and enhance the user experience.
Remote Control: With the smart hub, you can control your smart home remotely using your mobile phone or computer. This allows you to manage your home even when you are not there.
Energy Saving: The smart hub can coordinate your devices and help save energy. For example, it can control your smart lights and turn them off automatically when they are not needed.
A smart hub is a device that connects multiple smart devices in your home and allows you to control them from a central location. Some of the advantages include:
Compatibility: Ensure that the smart hub you choose is compatible with the devices you have in your home. Check the smart hub's specifications and make sure it supports your devices.
Platform: Ensure that the smart hub supports the software platform you wish to use. Some smart hubs use different platforms, so make sure you have the right platform for the smart hub you want to purchase.
Security: Ensure that the smart hub you choose has good security practices and is updated for the latest security threats. Smart hubs are connected to the internet and can be a target for malicious attackers.
The Smart Hub is compatible with the following Apple devices.
The Apple HomePod weighs just 345 grams and its dimensions are 97.9 x 84.3 mm.
Specifications are collected from official manufacturer websites. Please verify the specifications before proceeding with your final purchase. If you notice any problem you can report it here.
A very useful gadget for anyone who has or wants to create an Apple ecosystem. Even more useful for anyone who uses Siri quite a bit.
Sound and appearance close to perfect.
On the downside:
I set them up almost every day.
Bad purchase, not supported in Greece
4 stars because it was difficult for me to connect it to the Cosmote modem. Otherwise, it is a small and powerful speaker
Connected very easily with homekit. Very easy to set up. The sound is better than I expected. It was purchased mainly to function as a hub for my other smart devices. Very convenient to speak and open lights, heating.
DO NOT BUY IT!! continuous disconnection problems while listening to music to the point of frustration! I had also read other comments that it is a bad product but I didn't believe it, and I trusted the quality of this brand (it is very sturdy, with good materials) but the disconnection problems can drive you crazy! I would really like to sell it to someone who might manage somehow, but I don't know how. In any case, DO NOT BUY IT! (to add to the cons, the sound is also mediocre and low). I am an Apple fan, and I have all their devices, but here, I dare to say that it needs excessive improvement, otherwise immediate withdrawal of this product!
Amazing Device! It connected easily and has amazing sound quality.
I wanted to buy a speaker for a long time. I had seen many from JBL, which were too expensive. A friend of mine knows that I am an Apple user and recommended the HomePod to me. It's a great investment. It's a very powerful speaker, but it doesn't have a battery. It needs to be constantly plugged into the socket. It connects with Airplay to all Apple devices. The sound is loud, clear, and with good bass. When I heard its capabilities at full volume, I was shocked. It's not for parties, but it's definitely worth its money. It was purchased for 120€ in black color. One of the best purchases I have made.
Very good sound for the size of the speaker and easy to use with HomeKit, after a recent update it also has indicators for the humidity and temperature of the room.
It's worth it, it's exactly what you need for a speaker and for controlling devices
Bimbelaki! I bought it to use as a hub for the Home App so that I can control the rest of the smart accessories I have and set up automations. Very good sound and nice bass.
Flawless and trouble-free connection (as expected) on Apple devices. I bought 2 and paired them. As for the music intensity, you can even throw a party, they don't back down! Happy user :)
Purchase price 80€.
Utility:
• It is offered for purchase ONLY to those who are already in the Apple ecosystem and want to delve deeper into it.
• If you have iPhone(s), HomeKit, Apple Music, AirTag(s), you will particularly enjoy it.
• If you don't have the above, it will be useful mainly for AirPlay and talking to Siri.
Technical:
• Quality construction
• Better sound than expected for its size
• Automation through HomeKit works flawlessly
• Apple devices discover and connect to it directly
• Most problems are simply solved by bringing the iPhone closer (e.g. changing WiFi network).
Quite a good speaker both in terms of sound quality and size, and in terms of connectivity. I didn't find it quite responsive in commands, though, but that was purely a Wi-Fi issue since it connects through that and not Bluetooth. It has several functions besides the sound it offers, but only for Apple users, as I believe all Apple products are for such users due to the software. I don't know if any Android device could find it and play music through a familiar network because we don't have anything Android at home. However, I will check and get back to you.
Very good value for what it offers. Definitely not a speaker for music enjoyment, but for playback without many demands, it's great. It has a very nice design, functions as a transmitter for existing devices at home, and overall blends harmoniously in an environment with Apple devices.
The best thing in my opinion, I have connected Nanoleaf bulbs and lights, Meross LED strips, a Meross WiFi power strip that I charge with voice commands or automatically with shortcuts on my iPhone when the battery is between 25-85%. I have uploaded a video below: [link to YouTube video]. I have had it for about 8 months and it works perfectly. I also bought a second one in orange, which I found on sale for 89 euros and got a 25% refund. I grouped them together and both have perfect sound. With the 16.3 upgrade, you can also see room temperature and humidity
A positive: the sound for its size is decent.
Otherwise, it's not worth its money, especially if you live in Greece. Compatibility only with Apple Music, which is unthinkable when other devices have the ability to be compatible with everything. Apple, once again, demonstrates its monopolistic tactics, and their work on this particular product is unacceptable. These are the words of someone who owns a Mac, MacBook, iPad, AirPods, and Apple Watch.
Pure disappointment.
The only reason I don't give it a 5/5 but something that someone who will buy it should pay attention to, is that it cannot connect via classic Bluetooth but only through airplay, which is the standard way of connectivity in the Apple ecosystem, in other words using WiFi. This results in improper playback when the connection is slow. I don't even know if it works with any other device besides Apple that doesn't have airplay and that is bad in itself. Also, because I have it in the office, every time I approach it, it shows a connection indication, which is good only when you actually want to play something, not when it constantly shows it. Otherwise, it's a very cool speaker.
Quality. Powerful for its size. Worth it in combination with an Apple Music subscription where everything is available in lossless audio. Homepod mini and Apple Music lossless audio have very good quality. It combines very nicely with Apple TV.
update 14/04/23: Buying a second one is worth it. They connected with each other. They play anything together. Sound upgrade. Louder and higher quality sound. They play very nicely from Apple Music and Apple TV+. They cooperate very nicely with Apple TV and iPad devices, generally with the Apple ecosystem.
Awesome little speaker with the "joys and quirks" of Siri. It can become HomeKit. The sound is amazing for its size and also due to its size and design, I can't find a competitor... It's just there in the house and does the job whenever needed!
As a speaker, the sound is quite bassy, more than I would like. But not anything deep bass, don't imagine. Okay, if you ask, it tells you the weather too. As a hub for Apple home devices, it will be even more useful. Maybe a Sonos one at €200 would be a better choice.
Truly the best purchase I have made, the sound quality for its size is unreal. I have 4 of them distributed in different rooms at home, and at the first opportunity, I will buy more. They all work together and independently, as long as there is internet, you can do more things. And if you have Apple Music, they become essential in every room! I use them to control smart compatible devices in the house, I use them as an alarm clock, I use them for the weather, I use them to listen to music, I use them to communicate from room to room without needing to shout. I wish the other colors were available too.
A commendable product from Apple, I am very satisfied, the purchase was made on 22/1/21
Purchased from a well-known technology store for around 100€. It's worth its money if you have Apple devices, especially if you have devices that support Apple HomeKit. Powerful and clear sound considering its size, which is almost the size of a tennis ball (the HomePod is larger). Siri's response is very good and fast. If you don't have Apple Music or the Apple HomeKit ecosystem, there are better options available. Its biggest drawback is that it is wired.
(Update after 2 months of use). Very functional connection via AirPlay, both with the mobile phone and with the TV and HP laptop (via iTunes). The only negative thing that hasn't changed despite the updates is that you can't select it as an output device from the Apple Watch because it only detects devices with Bluetooth. (You can control it from the watch after playing music from the phone)
Bought it quite expensive because it was at the beginning of its release, I have invested quite a bit of money in smart home accessories, all in a homekit environment. The speaker performs well as a speaker with clear sound. When playing a movie with VLC, there is a delay of about 2 seconds, but it performs well if manually adjusted. Siri listens to everything without having to shout, even from another room. The speaker also works as a smart home hub. Its interaction with other devices, such as the iPhone, is excellent. If the phone is nearby, it asks if you want to transfer the call. If you gently tap the phone while playing music on the speaker, the music is transferred to the speaker, and so on. Initially, it froze 2-3 times, but after an upgrade, I didn't need to restart it again. One major drawback I consider is that it doesn't have a battery, but obviously, it was intentionally designed that way. I would have liked it to be portable.
I have two! I will get more at the first opportunity! It fills your space with sound. It gives you the impression of fullness. The pairing for stereo music playback is extremely easy and dynamic as a result. Also, for the same money, you can't find a simple speaker with such bass. And also, no more delays in streaming when you have them in different rooms.
I decided as an Apple device user to buy 2 HomePods for stereo pair use, as they will be used as the main speakers for multimedia playback. First of all, I have to say that in the store where I bought them, they have the European version, which means that I didn't need an adapter. Now, as speakers, they have incredibly clear and powerful sound, something that I had a slight reservation about due to their small size. But of course, they are not just speakers... I imagine you all know this and I don't need to elaborate on their functions. However, they are strictly aimed at Apple users! I would also like to point out that with their first use, they require an update, as their initial version (14.4) is quite behind the latest, the current one. In short, they are excellent in all their functions and for the 86 euros that I bought them for (each), they are worth it!
Very good speaker (I recommend getting 2 and making a stereo pair). One thing that bothers me is that it doesn't have Spotify instead of Apple Music (although this is not Apple's fault). It has awesome sound and makes great use of the bass. If you have HomeKit accessories, it will be very useful, although I have noticed an issue with the Xiaomi mi bedside lamp that tells me it is unresponsive (not always).
