It automatically adjusts the energy consumption according to the connection status and cable length to limit the carbon footprint of your network.
When a computer or network equipment is turned off, the corresponding port of a traditional switch will continue to consume significant amounts of power. The TL-SG1016DE can automatically detect the connection status of each port and reduce the power consumption of idle ports.
In the ideal case, shorter cables will use less power with less power degradation over their length. This does not happen with most devices, as they will use the same amount of power in the cable, regardless of whether it is 10 or 50 meters long. The TL-SG1016DE analyzes the length of the connected Ethernet cable and adjusts power usage accordingly, instead of maintaining power consumption in a conventional solution.

I purchased the v4 version in December '22 for 88 euros. It has been working continuously for 9 months and handles the network of the house 24/7 with over 10 active connections. So far, it has not required any restarts (although it has obviously restarted several times due to power outages). The only obvious downside is the price, as it has increased from 88 euros to almost 100 for known reasons, even though the product is exactly the same, it is not even a newer revision.

I would also like to note that contrary to Skroutz's description, the switch is managed. It can receive IP addresses normally, has port-based VLAN configuration and 802.1Q tagging, has port-based QoS and bandwidth control, and generally has everything one would expect from a level 2 managed switch.

I have been using it for a few days now. The packaging is well-made, with the necessary manuals and accessories for rack installation (optional, of course). The CD is unnecessary.
It is very easy to install, as expected. It has plenty of options if someone wants a managed switch. The latest firmware was already installed. I believe it is one of the best solutions for a SOHO environment.
