You need to reprogram it if you unplug it for some reason. I consider this a disadvantage, but I don't know if the others on the market differ in this aspect. Also, a piece of advice, as soon as you get the user manual in your hands, throw it away so you don't get confused. You simply plug it in and press the on button of the number you want to assign to that specific socket. You have to do it within a few seconds when the device's light is blinking. When you see the remote control, you will understand. If you read the tragic instructions, you will spend about ten minutes trying to find the programming button that doesn't exist, and not only that.

OK, from the depths of China. The "contact protection" I assume is a joke.
You get what you pay for, but it gets the job done with relatively little money.

Instructions that require clairvoyant abilities.
After managing to program them, it's fine.
The programming button that it mentions and doesn't show where it is, is none other than ON 1, 2, or 3, depending on which number we want to assign to each socket. And it must be pressed immediately once we plug the socket into the power and the indicator light starts flashing. After that, no.
When the programming is done correctly, you can hear two clicks from the socket.

The remote control has a 4th button, to connect another set of sockets that you have purchased and possibly want to control with this remote control.
Don't forget to remove the protective film from the remote control battery before using it.

If you plug them into a regular power strip with vertical sockets, it will turn off the entire power strip with one socket. So be careful when choosing a power strip.

P.S. I bought it from Energy for 12.75 + 2 shipping. I didn't like the packaging. The components were loose inside their box, it had clearly been opened and the sockets were likely used. Nevertheless, they worked fine.

EDIT: I have bought 3 sets. Slowly, one socket says goodbye to us.
I turn one on from the remote control and it turns off by itself after a while. The other two are dead, they lasted a year or two. With a light load, I have lights connected to them.
They might need a battery (CR2032) but I don't have a screwdriver for the screw they have.
I will come back when I open it.

  Unfortunately, I bought 2 sets and both of them do exactly the same thing. I wouldn't recommend them. They are a bit dangerous in the way they react to power outages. Instead of turning on normally when the power is restored, they flash twice, which means that any device connected to them turns on and off twice. This is prohibitive for expensive devices and not only... turntables, amplifiers, etc
