Pay attention only to the volume type of the HDD. My "parked" one since 2020 (probably used as a backup disk in Windows 7) had a "dynamic" volume type and with this adapter, it didn't even appear as a disk with a drive letter in Windows 11 (although it appeared normally as a SATA-III on the motherboard)!! If the HDD is a "basic" volume type, NTFS or FAT32 with MBR or GPT, it will work fine. In terms of speed, for SATA-III HDD drives, you won't see any difference whether you use this adapter or connect the disk to SATA-II and SATA-III on the motherboard due to the low speed of the disk. The tests were performed with a Seagate ST3500413AS HDD drive (500GB).

It doesn't work on Linux, hence the three stars. Some may say it's an exaggeration, "so what if it doesn't work on Linux," someone might say. Firstly, someone might only work on Linux, and secondly, some disks, especially those that used to work as main drives on an old operating system like Windows 98, may not be recognized by Windows 10 or 11. That's where Linux comes in to provide a solution if you want to retrieve some files.
