I connected it with an SSD for a laptop to a USB 3 port. It works without power. It also has a socket for larger hard drives, but it is sold separately.
It does what it says. It only asks you in the instructions to shut down the PC before removing the drive, but it's not necessary if you are sure it is inactive at the moment of disconnection. I have no complaints.
For some reason, the hard drive appears as a DVD rom instead of a storage device and I can't access its files in any way. It is supposed to read 2.5" and 3.5" hard drives. So far, it's useless; it hasn't done the job for which I bought it.
With an SSD, it works great, while with an HDD, even if it's 2.5'', it needs extra power supply to run it properly.
It does what it promises! It needs external power supply to be able to read 3.5" disks (easily solved with universal adapters that you can find in corresponding stores)
Along with the external power supply (the one recommended by skroutz), it works seamlessly with a 3.5 hard drive (on a Linux operating system).
Whatever disk I have put it recognized without any problem. Just for the 3.5-inch HDDs it requires an external power supply 12v, 2A with the + on the inside of the plug that is not provided.
The adapter supports SSD drives without external power supply and HDD drives with a 12V/2A or 12V/1.5A power supply (tested with both). Pay attention only to the volume type of the HDD. My "parked" one since 2020 (probably used as a backup disk in Windows 7) had a "dynamic" volume type and with this adapter, it didn't even appear as a disk with a drive letter in Windows 11 (although it appeared normally as a SATA-III on the motherboard)!! If the HDD is a "basic" volume type, NTFS or FAT32 with MBR or GPT, it will work fine. In terms of speed, for SATA-III HDD drives, you won't see any difference whether you use this adapter or connect the disk to SATA-II and SATA-III on the motherboard due to the low speed of the disk. The tests were performed with a Seagate ST3500413AS HDD drive (500GB).
Plug and Play. Good build quality and decent speeds, around 300Mbps for my own disk. For anyone wondering, it accepts 3.5" HDD but requires a power supply. It's worth its money.
Purchased at €11.40, I am satisfied. It connects to over 500gb, up to 2tb (2.5'), without additional power supply. Additional power supply cable is not provided.
Very good construction, the disk does not "play" when plugged in. I have tested it on more than 15 different 2.5" disks, either SSD or HDD, without the slightest compatibility issue. I deduct one star for the data transfer speeds, as it rarely goes above 60MB/sec in writing.
Quality construction and performs its job very well. Boots up smoothly without any issues or disconnects. I highly recommend it!
By far one of the best choices I have made (I have many discs from various PCs and didn't know what to do with them).
Note: You need to have your own charger because it is not included in the packaging.
It works fine on a 3.5" disk with external power supply. I haven't tried it on a 2.5" disk yet. It doesn't work on Linux, hence the three stars. Some may say it's an exaggeration, "so what if it doesn't work on Linux," someone might say. Firstly, someone might only work on Linux, and secondly, some disks, especially those that used to work as main drives on an old operating system like Windows 98, may not be recognized by Windows 10 or 11. That's where Linux comes in to provide a solution if you want to retrieve some files.
I have been using it for days and it has excellent connectivity on win 10 with satisfactory data transmission speed through the USB 3.0 connection ... Finally, I would highly recommend it as a fast solution for external connection of Sata drives to a PC ..

Simply perfect, especially for upgrading to an SSD.

It doesn't open the 3.5" to be honest (probably due to power). Overall round, flawless.

Good product! But it is missing a power supply. How can I assemble it if it doesn't work?

It works great on 3.5-inch drives with a power supply of 1.5A DC 12V. In a Windows 11 environment.

The power supply for the 12v is not included!
Other than that, it works great.
