For DVD I got it, I suggest you use HDMI for better picture quality. In general, depending on the speakers you have connected for audio output, it will have the corresponding quality. It supports 5.1 Dolby but not DTS. It displays subtitles just fine. It has a difficult-to-use and poor menu. Overall, it gives you a 2000s feel. Another downside is that it doesn't always support 16:9 on some discs and displays the movie with black bars at the top and bottom of the image. The remote control is a hassle; if you can't see what you're pressing, it goes wherever. It plays all PAL discs. I don't have NTSC yet, but I don't think you'll have an issue with those

I bought it because it is one of the few with an HDMI connection. It plays copies and even VCDs! The only downside for me is the lack of a screen. Honest for its price.
I consider it to be the best one can get, at least at this price level. Almost the same model I had before lasted me about 15 years. This one here is similar, but improved. For example, it has a better display of information about the remaining time for the movie to finish, etc.
Fake construction. It doesn't recognize many discs at first (new original European ones..) and don't expect it to play multi-region, it's locked to region 2. I returned it, all the effort was in vain.
Very good, I have no complaints yet. It does not come with an HDMI cable, but it comes with AV cables, remote control batteries, and an adapter for a different socket since it comes with a different plug
It is the best for me and some other DVD players I had did not play all the DVDs and when they had been played many times they would freeze a lot, while with the Phillips there is no comparison!!!
A working day on DVD, generally quiet, smaller in size than expected, I would like it to display the movie's runtime like others do, and on the display I would like it to provide information more easily and not have to press it 3-4 times to get all the information and leave.
It is upscaling and it satisfied me, maybe it should have been a little cheaper, but overall it does its job and has good picture and sound

Good and reliable DVD player. Good build quality, simple and minimalist design, relatively small size. It reads CDs and DVDs easily and quickly, and the positive thing is that it also reads region 1 discs, which is rare. Don't expect it to function as a media player, as it only reads basic files. It is mainly recommended for your discs and as a CD player. If you also have DVDs from America, it works perfectly fine.
Unfortunately, the product is significantly inferior to what I expected and essentially does not do the job I want it to. It does not read hard drives and does not recognize the format of a movie in mp4 on a USB stick. It was an unfortunate choice on my part and I regret it immediately.
I bought it today, Aug 6, 2021. After reading the reviews, I decided to buy it. I needed it to listen to CDs that I have abandoned. As a player, it is fast and has good sound. I tried both the CD and the USB stick, everything is good so far. I can say that I have generally been satisfied with Philips products. As for the DVD, I will come back to it
Initial impression.
It looks good, with good picture quality, minimal noise. I don't have an opinion on the sound yet, but also on many other issues that I haven't looked into because I don't see any basic things directly, such as slow movement, frame-by-frame, and repeating section A-B of the DVD.
Especially for slow motion, the manual doesn't mention anything (not that the packaging contains a manual), and I can't achieve slow motion with any combination. I believe it really doesn't have such capability (if someone has discovered otherwise, please write it down), and maybe for this reason alone, no one should buy it.
Unacceptable if it doesn't have slow motion. If I knew that, of course, I wouldn't have bought it. I deducted 2 stars just for this reason, and I don't know if I should deduct more because this is a feature that should not be missing. Conclusion - be prepared that the obvious doesn't always exist, and if slow motion is essential for you, after making sure (in some way I don't know) that it doesn't have it, get something else.
