In the lower numbers (e.g., 24, 36, 40…), there are few grits but with a large diameter, ideal for quickly smoothing rough surfaces. In contrast, in the higher numbers (e.g., 180, 220, 320…), there are more grits with a smaller diameter, suitable for intense sanding and a smooth finish.
