I got it in February 21st.
At first, the menu was a bit challenging for me since my previous camera was the GoPro Session 4 which didn't have a touch screen. After a few minutes of getting used to it, I can say that the camera works wonders. It captures very nice and clear videos with sound that records even the slightest noise (when it's not windy).
The level horizon is a luxury that I didn't know I needed and the Hypersmooth 3.0 requires effort to stabilize shaky footage.
The camera is capable of being used for much more than just an ordinary action camera.

I bought it almost as soon as it was released from the official website.

2. The video is really good. It's truly a gimbal killer, with the caveat that the video gets cropped and there's some blurring in the background when you zoom in. However, on mobile screens and social media in general, these issues aren't noticeable. Someone who wants top resolution and clarity will have to use a gimbal and turn off hypersmooth.

3. The sound is crystal clear for an action camera.

4. I love the timewarp feature, which is mainly why I use the GoPro.

5. Don't expect much from the photos, whether in flat profile or GoPro mode. You just use it where you can only use one action camera.

6. The biggest drawback for me is the touch screen, which often doesn't respond or responds by selecting something else. This makes handling it difficult, annoying, and time-consuming at times, for no reason. I wonder how it's only mentioned in one comment here. It's the reason I started leaving it in the drawer.

And now to the main issue, why it gets one star:

GoPro (like unfortunately many companies nowadays) follows a policy that "indirectly forces" you to do firmware updates through the app - without giving you the option to revert to a previous firmware version if you desire it for any reason!

Suddenly, the camera with the latest firmware update started having battery issues. For example, even when it's at 30%, it would give you a message that it's not enough to record video and then abruptly shut off. I contacted GoPro, who immediately offered a replacement since it's still under warranty. As this ease of replacement surprised me, I asked if the replacement would be a new GoPro or a used one. The answer was: "The camera we are sending you will not come in new packaging but is a camera that we have tested thoroughly to ensure that you will have no further issues on your adventures. These cameras go through a rigorous inspection to make sure they are up to our high standards." Clearly an automated response that they give to everyone who asks the same question.

So I copied and pasted the response into Google and found issues in the community where users complained that they received a used camera as a replacement, as they had some minor physical wear (scratches). Searching mostly on my own, I found that the problem was related to the firmware. So from the community, I found the previous version of the firmware (since GoPro doesn't provide previous firmware versions), installed it, and the problem disappeared.

  Well guys, after 1 year of use, I am quite satisfied with it. It connects with both the phone and the computer, and it has live video transfer from the phone, with fast video quality, something more than fantastic. The hyper smooth feature is fantastic, with amazing footage taken on a camera with many features, and the video comes out stable even on a boat. Now, as for overheating and battery life, it depends on the resolution you shoot. If you shoot in 1080, it doesn't overheat and has a long battery life. But if you want to shoot in 5k, of course it will heat up and consume the battery faster, especially if you push it to the limit. As for overheating, I read from other users that all action cameras heat up, so it's normal. This camera is waterproof, you can go underwater with it up to a certain depth, but it doesn't have a cooling system. If it had one, it wouldn't be waterproof, just like fans. It's like being locked in a greenhouse, so you will feel the heat since you are isolated from the outside environment. The sound for static videos is crystal clear on the camera itself, but it picks up some interference from the air. If you get a media mod, it unlocks the camera's full potential, 5 out of 5 from me. If you get it, it would be good to also get a second battery or a power bank, just in case

  Do not buy it unless you have money to throw away. It overheats excessively, causing it to shut off to prevent it from exploding, therefore useless. I tried it in shade, in sunlight, in water (it immediately got water inside and they replaced it, the replacement got water inside immediately, so I bought a different model), no difference. Maybe it works properly inside the refrigerator. Do not buy it.

  I took it for underwater shots, after all, outside of water, the image quality is mediocre for me. The sound is quite good, but in terms of image and video, the Galaxy S10 that I have written about before is superior. I don't think it's worth so much money, but obviously you're paying for the name. In water, when the water is clear and transparent, it writes beautifully, but it loses in wave and low light conditions, with the 5K it has... it's like it doesn't exist, it doesn't write 5K at all.   2. Regarding the 8, the difference is night and day.

  3. It doesn't freeze, doesn't overheat, the battery lasts, but on the 8 I had a total of 3 batteries and with this one, I'm covered with just one (using 4k 60fPS).

  4. It has better construction on the lid that secures it, and it's positive that you can now change the lens.

  The GoPro Hero9 is my first action camera, so I don't have much experience with other models and brands. My opinion is that it is a good camera that has enough options to optimize photos and videos depending on the conditions. Having the DSLR Nikon D7200, my opinion is influenced by the quality that a DSLR offers. Obviously, we cannot compare dissimilar things, so I will try to be as objective as possible.

  It is a good camera for video and video timelapse. The photos are decent, but if you have another camera, you will surely not be satisfied with just the GoPro. Its biggest advantage is that it is very small, lightweight, and easy to use. It is perfect for trips with a lot of walking and activities so that you don't have to constantly carry the DSLR in your hand. The "pro" photo functions are quite limited as you can only control the ISO and shutter speed. As for the zoom, it is worse than that of a mobile phone as it is digital and produces noise. Night shots are of low quality unless you have a tripod to keep the shutter open for a long time.

  The video is the most stable video I have ever seen. It's like carrying a €1000 ring with you. In good lighting conditions, I have nothing negative to say about the video quality. In low light, there are some noise interferences, but I consider it normal for such a small camera.

  Finally, the battery drains very easily. That is, there is a possibility that during timelapse or video, you will see it dropping with the naked eye. I find it unacceptable for such an expensive camera...

Don't leave the camera recording for extended periods of time, as it's an action camera. Record for a short time and then stop until you need to capture something specific.   As a diving instructor, I can say that the camera is used 99% underwater and I have to say: IT'S SIMPLY AMAZING!!!!!! The BEST BY FAR, especially if you get the filters (DIVE MASTER PACK), then you will forget about the monotonous underwater colors.

  I've had it for about half a year and what I've realized is that the quality of 5k at 30fps is not necessary because the time it takes to transfer the video to your phone is long and there's no reason to shoot in such high quality. Also, night shots are of very poor quality if there is no light. What I did when I took night shots was to use a ring light, a small projector that exists and its price is around $60, but even a $20 ring light is a very good idea!!! Also, the battery is great and if you have a second one, you'll be much better off.

  Now, with every year's upgrades, I can say that HERO9 is indeed the most complete model that GoPro has released in years.

  Let's start with the biggest and very pleasant addition, the front screen! Finally, we have the ability to see our shot. It gives us some options inside, such as having the whole image on the screen or full screen or only with letters like the old models. And of course, the most useful is the option to turn it off when we don't need it to save battery.

  Stabilization with Hypersmooth 3.0 has gone to another level. Your image will ALWAYS be stable no matter what you do. With the new horizon leveling feature, it can basically keep the horizon straight even when the camera turns to the side (up to 45 degrees). With the corresponding Max Lens Mod (+100€) lens, you can do amazing things (perfect for sports such as mountain biking, motorcycles, skiing, etc.) and even if the camera turns 360 degrees, the horizon will stay in the same place. Don't expect good stabilization results in the dark.

  The addition of 5K that few will use but is quite good, excellent quality. Limited up to 30fps.

  GoPro has grown in size and weight, which means we finally have a new larger battery. (Unfortunately, it doesn't take 8 batteries).
  Wonderful night lapse video even from day to night.

  Unfortunately, as always, the camera doesn't do well in the dark, and this is due to the sensor that has remained the same for years. If they put a larger one at some point, we'll be talking about something perfect. For now, video in the dark is not good. However, photos with a tripod work wonders with long exposures. You can take pictures of stars, etc.

  Timewrap 3.0 is greatly improved with the addition of the click for live video. That is, where timewrap does, you tap the screen, and the video plays at normal speed and with sound, so it's ideal when you want to shoot something and talk and then tap again to continue timewrap.

  A useful feature is hindsight. Basically, it records +30 seconds BEFORE you press the rec button in case you don't want to miss anything.

  Scheduled Capture. You can program the camera to open itself at any time and start recording whatever you tell it to. Ideal for night timelapse when you sleep, for example.

  And since we are in lockdown times and everyone is working from home, it has released a free program for Mac and PC, and you can connect GoPro and have it as a webcam in all the programs you talk to. (Zoom, Webex, Skype, etc.)

  I do not recommend buying it at this price from Greek stores as it is sold on the GoPro site for €379 and comes with extra mounts, extra battery, micro sd card, and free GoPro cloud service for one year. It comes free from Europe to your home in 2-3 days.
