When installing a new filter, you have to "throw away" at least 20-30 fillings of the pitcher until the bitter taste of the carbon leaves the water. Only after 2-3 days of use does the water have no taste. Ultimately, the only advantage of the pitcher is that you don't have to carry packs of water, as the financial benefit is negligible (if the pitcher isn't even more expensive...)
