What fascinates me about Luis's book is the richness and variety of this long life that he shared among so many countries and cultures. It starts from the Middle Ages and reaches the modern era. It goes through surrealism, the Spanish Civil War, Hollywood, Mexico. A life full of humor, loneliness, friendship, imagination, seen through one of the most penetrating gazes of our time, the gaze of a laughing or sometimes melancholic hermit.

What also fascinates, as in Spanish adventure novels, is the love for rest, the anecdote, humor. Luis suddenly stops, sits under a tree and starts talking about important things: wine, love, God, chance, dream and death.
