Description
This book, whose author is unknown, was originally written in Russian in 1853. The original was found on Mount Athos in 1884 and was printed. This masterpiece, as it was characterized in Europe by theologians who delved into it spiritually, speaks of an Orthodox Christian pilgrim who travels with the thirst to deepen his knowledge and application of the Apostle Paul's dictum, "pray without ceasing." Finally, with the help of a monk and the book "Philokalia of the Neptic Fathers," he manages to learn to deepen and apply the unceasing prayer, also known as the mental prayer or prayer of the heart, which is summarized in the phrase, "Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me."
The book was translated into Greek by the Metropolitan of Corinth, Panteleimon Karanikolas, and has been awarded by the Academy of Athens.

Reviews
I had been hearing about this book for many years. I finally managed to read it this year. It is a textbook so well-written (even in translation), descriptive, structured, and with such depth of quality that you rarely encounter in theological books unless the author was a "saint."
No one knows if it is a true story or a fictional story written for an in-depth analysis of the "mental prayer" of Christ. It could be a "thesis" on mental prayer and its power. A unique screenplay for a movie that would win the Oscar for best screenplay.
As you can understand, it is now one of my favorite (theological) books.Translated from Greek ·- Paper quality
