I have used such a trap (we call it a cage here). They are triggered ('activated') difficultly, no matter how lightly you set it up. I use cheese or gruyere as bait with two drops of olive oil. I tie it on the trap with a wire that is used for computer cables. Last August, I managed to catch a big rat that was climbing onto the balcony. It ate half the cheese at first but then got caught

I don't know if the mice were relatives of Ratatouille, but I bought 3 traps. They closed about 5 times each, they ate the bait, but I never caught the mice.
