The Toshiba inverter air conditioner, Edge, features a sleek and modern design. Its completely silent operation will not disrupt any activity and will create the ideal atmosphere.
Silent operation
With the Quiet function, the noise level of the indoor unit is reduced. To activate it, press the FAN button on the remote control, reducing the speed and reaching the operating point where the air conditioner operates silently.
Additionally, the Silent function reduces the noise of the outdoor unit by up to -6dB(A) for your comfort, as well as that of your neighbors.
Digital DC Twin Rotary Inverter Technology
Equipped with a Digital DC Twin Rotary Inverter compressor that ensures silent operation, maximum efficiency, and energy savings, as well as a wide operating range. Toshiba's unique Digital DC Inverter hybrid technology uses the Digital Twin Rotary technology double rotary compressor and ensures:
More stable rotational speed for even lower consumption and high performance across a wide operating range.
Reduction of unwanted vibrations for less compressor strain and triple the lifespan compared to other compressors on the market.
Hada Care Flow
The HADA Care Flow function in cooling takes care of the indirect airflow towards users, ensuring uniform temperature distribution in the space, avoiding unpleasant air waves or skin dryness, up to a distance of 7 meters from the device.
IAQ and Ultra Pure Air Filters
They ensure a clean atmosphere, free from dust, odors, microorganisms, and fine particles.
The Ultra Pure filter offers PM2.5 cleaning up to 94%.
PM2.5 refers to particulate matter that comes from air pollution and has a diameter of less than 2.5 μm. Studies have shown a close relationship between exposure to fine particles and lung diseases. Toshiba's Ultra Pure filter captures up to 94% of PM2.5, creating a healthy atmosphere at home.
The Triple ActionTOSHIBAIAQ filter, thanks to the Ag and Leuconostoc enzymes it contains, prevents the reproduction of harmful bacteria, offers protection against mold and the growth of microorganisms.
Wi-Fi Ready
With your comfort in mind, Toshiba offers the ability to control the device via the internet, making your daily life easier. You can control your air conditioner from anywhere and at any time, thanks to remote control via Wi-Fi, for unparalleled comfort and energy savings. For this function, the purchase of a Wi-Fi stick is required (not included in the product package).
"Comfort Sleep" Mode
Activate the "Comfort Sleep" function to ensure smooth thermal comfort throughout the night while you sleep. The function automatically adjusts the temperature to increase by 1°C after the first hour, by an additional degree after 2 hours, maintaining the last setting until morning.
Magic Coil
The innovative, self-cleaning coating of the element, with the signature of Toshiba.
The Magic Coil creates an exceptionally slippery surface, so dust and dirt do not adhere to the exchanger, and are subsequently expelled from the device with the drainage water. This results in:
An element as clean as new, without moisture and mold
The unit circulates clean air, without odors
The energy efficiency of the unit is maintained longer
Fireplace Function
With this innovative feature from Toshiba, the air conditioner functions as a heat diffuser that comes from other sources that may exist in the space, such as the fireplace or the radiator. In this way, it contributes to better heat performance, maximizing the efficiency of the entire heating system in your space, saving you money.
ECO Mode
Ensure energy savings of up to 25% compared to regular settings, without sacrificing your comfort. This function automatically increases or decreases the temperature, preventing extreme temperatures in your space and reducing power consumption.
8°C Heating Function
Ability to set the temperature to 8°C during the winter period and when the space remains uninhabited for a long time. In this way, the likelihood of water freezing inside the home's pipes or other damage due to low temperatures is reduced.
On Demand & Smart Defrost
With the Smart Defrost function, the air conditioning unit reverses the cooling cycle only when necessary. The unit operates in heating mode for a longer time with excellent performance even in the most adverse weather conditions during the winter season.
At the same time, in extreme winter temperatures, with the On Demand Defrost function, defrosting of the outdoor unit can be done whenever you wish, simply by pressing a button on the remote control.
Weekly Scheduling
The Toshiba air conditioners can be programmed with up to 4 different settings during the day and 7 different settings during the week, offering you a total of 28 different operating programs.
Automatic Restart
The air conditioner will automatically restart with the previous settings after a power outage.
Self-Diagnosis
The air conditioner will perform a thorough check and indicate possible malfunctions in operation.
Eco-Friendly Refrigerant R32
It uses the eco-friendly refrigerant R32, which is environmentally friendly and has 68% lower global warming potential compared to R410A. Additionally, R32 can deliver the same thermal power as R410A with 30% less refrigerant, meaning that less refrigerant is required per unit. As a result, total carbon dioxide emissions can be reduced by approximately 75%. Another advantage is that R32 is not a mixture but a homogeneous fluid and can be more easily recycled and reused.
Energy Efficiency
The air conditioner belongs to energy class A+++ for cooling and energy class A+++ for heating (medium zone). The energy class is measured on a seven-level color scale from A+++ to D, with class A+++ being the most efficient, while class D is the least efficient.
Additionally, there are the SEER and SCOP indicators, which more realistically depict the actual energy efficiency of air conditioners.
SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) is representative of the entire cooling season. It is defined as the ratio of the annual required cooling to the annual electricity consumption (the annual cooling consumption is based on 350 hours of operation). Indicatively, for an air conditioner of class A and above, the SEER indicator is from 5.10w/w units and above.
SCOP (Seasonal Coefficient of Performance) is representative of the entire heating season. It is defined as the ratio of the annual required heating to the annual electricity consumption (the annual heating consumption is based on 1400 hours of operation). Indicatively, for an air conditioner of class A and above, the SCOP indicator is from 3.40w/w units and above.

I am the happy owner since 2022 of the Toshiba RAS -18J2KVSG-E RAS-18J2AVSG-E air conditioner and I am absolutely satisfied with the machine and the remote control! So this year I decided to buy the Toshiba RAS-B13G3KVSG-E RAS-13J2AVSG-E1.
I thought it would be the same brand and I wouldn't have a problem.......
But in the end, I have a problem because the remote control was designed by someone who tried very hard to make it WORSE than the remote control that Toshiba had until now!!
What can I say first about the MANY problems of this remote control.....
First of all, its buttons are black (instead of being white) so they are not VISIBLE. You have to go directly under the lamp to see them with difficulty.
The letters on the buttons of the remote control are very faint (instead of being BOLD) so you can't see them!!
Also, the buttons do not light up.
The VERY SMALL screen of the remote control turns on and off almost IMMEDIATELY, so you don't have time to adjust the speed of the air conditioner or anything else.
The menus are designed to confuse you and are chaotic.
Also, the remote control ONLY has 7 buttons instead of the 22 that Toshiba air conditioners had until now.
On the old Toshiba remote control, each button did a JOB.
The buttons are exactly next to each other (without sufficient distance) so you press one on top of the other (if you can see them for sure because THEY ARE NOT VISIBLE). I realized that because they installed Wireless LAN CONNECTION on the machine, they downgraded the quality of the remote control to keep costs down....
However, they should have given the customer the option to buy the machine without wifi lan connection. Not everyone feels the "need" to turn on/set the machine from their phone.
Also, its filter is not the same as the 2022 model 18000 btu. (both belong to the EDGE series).
When you turned on the 18 (in the beginning) you felt a very pleasant Forest smell. The 13 of 2024 does not have such a good filter because in the beginning of its operation it did not have the pleasant Forest smell that the larger one had.......
Also, when asking for filters from the dealership in June for the 18 that must be changed every 2 years, they sent me filters from the CHEAPEST MIRAI AND NOT THE FILTERS OF THE EDGE SERIES. UNACCEPTABLE!!
I don't know who is responsible for this. The Greek dealership or Toshiba.
Since I can't give 2 separate ratings in the "system", I would say that the remote control gets 1 star and the main air conditioner gets 4 stars.
Of course, due to the remote control, the whole experience is ruined, agreeing with another user here on skroutz.
This remote control does not suit a machine worth 950 euros!!
It concerns the 12,000 BTU model.
It was installed in a very 'difficult' space of 30 square meters.
Above is a terrace without protection. Surrounding windows. The door frequently opens and closes.
I couldn't install a larger one due to electrical installation limitations.
The previous Hitachi 14,000 BTU model was installed 5 years ago. However, it proved to be so inadequate that I had to replace it. I had to frequently use a 2,000W space heater.
The Toshiba managed very well. In need, I operated it at 4/5 capacity and it provided good heat. I didn't have to use the space heater even once!
However, the surprise came during the heatwave. It cools the space like a refrigerator with a setting of 3/5.
Low noise.
Very satisfied with the purchase.
Update 3/2/24: It couldn't heat the space during the previous days of extreme cold.
The 12,000 BTU model has its limits. An LG 18,000 BTU model from the previous decade at home is a beast!
The five stars remain.
The air conditioner is quite good, efficient, and quite economical. Although I have the 16000 BTU model, it manages to heat and cool a large space of about 60-65 square meters (two consecutive large rooms) satisfactorily. Of course, it takes a considerable amount of time to reach the desired temperature, especially during heating. In heating mode, the monthly cost is about 30 euros for a temperature of 18-19 degrees Celsius with approximately 10-12 hours of daily usage.
The period was at the end of winter with temperatures ranging from 8 to 15 degrees and a price of 11 cents per kWh. Recently, I monitored the consumption with a smart plug tp 110 and discovered the following. When it starts working and until it reaches the desired temperature, it consumes 1500-2000 watts. Then, the consumption depends on how cold it is outside and the temperature we have chosen for the room. For a room temperature of 18 degrees and a 65 sqm space in my case, it consumes about 500 watts when the outside temperature is between 10 and 15 degrees, and approximately 1000-700 watts when the temperature is between 5-10 degrees. In other words, during the 12-14 hours in a day with temperatures between 8 and 15 degrees, it consumes about 10 kWh. If it is colder, let's say 5-10 degrees, it could reach 15-17 kWh. The photos show the consumption for 12 hours of operation in a day with temperatures of 8-16 degrees Celsius.
During the very hot summer that just passed, it had no problem lowering the temperature, but I don't have any consumption measurements.
As for the noise, in order for it to work satisfactorily (both in cooling and heating), the fan speed should be on the third or even better, on the fourth level, where the noise is relatively low (third) or acceptable (fourth). However, other models in the same range (3-4) have less noise but clearly lower performance. If someone wants completely noiseless, they should look for other heating methods because all air conditioners make noise. When the noise is minimal (first-second level), the performance drops significantly and essentially it is not worth using them.
16000 BTU in 40 sqm. Struggles with cooling. When it's 35 degrees outside, it manages to reach 28 degrees inside (after an hour) and can't go any lower. Not even with the hi power mode.
It's beautiful, but incredibly user-unfriendly remote control. When you hold it in your hands, it's dark, you can't see any information, and to turn on the screen, you have to press one of the buttons (to cause some kind of change!). The menu deserves an award for difficulty! Thankfully, it has a Wi-Fi app, so everything is much simpler from the mobile phone.
The air conditioner worked for only half an hour after installation and then started tripping the circuit breaker. I contacted the Toshiba dealership and they promptly sent a contracted technician from a nearby store who found no installation errors but did find a short circuit on the circuit board. The issue was reported to the Toshiba dealership. Since that day (7 working days have passed so far), there has been absolutely no update. In the past 2 days, I have been in contact with the dealership and unfortunately, no one is able to inform me about my issue, the employees just stereotypically state that they will pass on my complaint and that someone will contact me.
10/10/2022 Today, I received a communication from the local representative. The circuit board will be replaced (delivery time in 1 month...)
17/11/2022 Finally, the circuit board was replaced today. I will provide a product evaluation later.
20/2/2023 I am improving the rating as after the repair, it is functioning (for now) economically and quietly.
It was installed in a bedroom in April. At first, everything was fine with very good performance in both cooling and heating. However, gradually a rattling noise was noticed from the fan of the indoor unit. Toshiba came and diagnosed a faulty fan motor of the indoor unit. Unfortunately, the replacement part will arrive at the end of September...
Until then, the noise is unbearable. As soon as the repair is done, I will come back for an update.
Fortunately, the motor replacement was done on 15/9/22 (earlier than expected).
What I have to say is that the machine works perfectly. Completely silent operation and excellent performance.
I highly recommend it! Plus, the treatment from the dealership is also commendable.
5/7/2022. Quality construction of the indoor and outdoor unit.
Truly silent operation without creaking or noise. I got a 24,000 BTU unit for a 50 sqm open space and it cools it easily and reaches the rest of the house without exaggeration. Perhaps one of the most affordable in its category.
I will come back in winter for additional information.
28/12/2022. I'm coming back to comment on the heating. Very good performance, it's simply amazing!!!
It heats up for fun and quickly warms up the 50 sqm open space with a terrace above, without insulation!!!
10/02/2023. It's freezing and snowing in Athens these days. No problem, the air conditioner works flawlessly and quickly heats up the space.
The Toshiba is a tool. I have bought air conditioners from Daikin, Fujitsu for 1200 euros each, with 12,000 BTU. It is very powerful in heating, it emits very hot air unlike others. The Toshiba is a quiet Giant, an amazing tool and of high quality. Get it without hesitation, it has all the classes with A+++
I will only talk about cooling as I bought it in July.
I put it in an open space living room, dining room, and kitchen area of about 60 square meters. It cools it immediately and reaches the middle rooms, but at a slower pace due to spatial issues. With the option it has to make an internal and external unit silent, it is not heard at all, neither inside nor outside.
As for consumption, I have had it for 20 days, I turn it on in the morning and turn it off at night, except for 2 times when I had it on for 24 hours, with a constant temperature at 26 degrees (that's what the remote control says, in reality it is around 24-25 degrees), although I haven't installed a special meter, so according to the DEI clock, it burns almost NOTHING.
I was recommended it from a well-known Greek forum that also has diagrams with consumption comparisons, etc. You can also see comparisons with other A/C units.
After each cooling cycle, it operates the fan for half an hour (with the blinds almost closed, meaning no air is coming out) to dry the internal unit, so that it doesn't smell the next time you turn it on, as I have noticed with other A/C units.
The outdoor unit is not audible at all and does not have any vibrations. It appears very sturdy in terms of construction and is quite heavy.
The indoor unit is simple and made of plastic. It has a fan with 5 speeds. Up to level 3, it is okay, at level 4 there is moderate noise, and at level 5 there is quite a bit of noise but not as annoying as in other units.
Overall, it performs well in cooling, slightly better than a 12 or 13 BTU air conditioner but not exactly for a 16 BTU.
In heating, it is very powerful, which I did not expect. It reaches temperature quickly and is much quieter than during the summer in cooling mode.
Some slight vibrations pass through the outdoor unit, but nothing that is bothersome.
