Wall of incoming letters:
I have owned this mobile for about 8 months now.
Let me start with its main flaw in my opinion. Like most users, while it was running fine, it suddenly started freezing, either for 1 minute and the screen would turn black, or it would restart.
It didn't perform well in games. It had the same performance as a Samsung Galaxy J5 from '16.
With the update it received in April, some of its performance issues were resolved. It no longer froze or restarted. However, it still couldn't handle games. After some research, out of curiosity, about how a mobile with 8 cores at 12nm, 2 Ghz, 3gb RAM, with a graphics card much more powerful than my previous mobile, could have the same performance in games;
I finally found a setting called "Disable HW screen overlay" which was disabled. As soon as I enabled it, the mobile finally started running much smoother in all applications and games.
For example, in LoL: Wildrift, from Low Settings 60 fps, I now have it on Medium with High 60 fps and it runs smoothly, Subway Surfers also runs smoothly now, before it used to freeze, and Drift Max Pro runs at 60 fps on High now, before it was around 30 and it would freeze there too.
Now that we have covered its main flaw in my opinion, let's move on to the other features.
Good battery, although when the chipset is active in games, it drains faster now (10% every 40 minutes approximately), as it fully utilizes the graphics card with this setting. For any other use, it lasts much longer as it won't be under as much strain. It takes about an hour and a half from 30% to reach 100%.
The screen resolution is very good, 2340x1080p 6.53'' with nice colors, personally I wouldn't say I miss AMOLED.
The cameras are very good for photos, but for videos they are quite average at 1080p/720p 30 fps. It could have been better. I will investigate further if there is a setting causing this.
Personally, MIUI as I received it out of the box seemed a bit user-unfriendly and one has to spend some time adjusting the settings to their liking. I have customized it exactly how I wanted. It literally has countless settings to tweak.
The Touch ID on the back of the mobile below the cameras is in a good position and it is quite fast.
In conclusion, it is a fairly satisfactory mobile for its price ONLY when you customize it to your liking by playing with the settings.
*I will provide images for you to see exactly what to press if you want to enable the "Disable HW screen overlay" setting for a smoother experience.
To enable the developer options, you will need to tap on "MIUI Version" 5-6 times. You will receive a notification at the bottom center when they are enabled. Then go back, additional settings, developer options, and enable the specific "Disable HW screen overlay" setting, and that's it.
Do not modify any other settings if you don't know what they do.
I hope I helped the owners of this particular mobile who unfortunately have a bad experience due to this specific setting. Now with the Note 10 in the market, it will be difficult for someone to consider the 9, let alone the 3/64 version, but you never know.
Excellent phone in all aspects. However, there is one feature that ruins the whole experience, and that is the RAM. It has 3GB of RAM, of which the operating system takes up 2GB. The result is that it freezes incredibly in applications like Instagram, 9gag, or Facebook, which have scrolling with videos, photos, and GIFs. It also freezes due to RAM when using the external camera. It also has a major problem with network connections. It constantly loses GSM, WiFi, and Bluetooth connections. I feel like I wasted €130.
I had it as a second device in 2020 and 21, I open it after about a year and it doesn't turn on no matter what I do, it doesn't charge, and the technician says that the motherboard is broken and it can't be replaced. Overall, it was a good phone, takes good photos, has a good screen, but it lags a bit and its video is up to 30 frames
I have had it for three years with continuous use and it hasn't had any issues! Amazing battery, storage space, satisfactory camera. For anyone who wants a mobile phone for photos, gaming, and I don't know what else, it competes with more expensive purchases.
After a year of use, it is the worst. It freezes a lot, constantly freezing my phone and I have to reboot it all the time. I was excited when I got it... At first, it was really good... But after a while, the problems started to come. I can't even watch a TikTok without it freezing. Imagine that the phone has its own booster for better performance and better FPS, and I use it every day, otherwise it freezes. I'm watching a story on Instagram and suddenly it freezes AGAIN. I do not recommend this at all... It's the worst... With just 50€, get something better
3 stars, from the first weeks it was incredibly laggy, it couldn't handle it. I switched to an iPhone 7, after 9 months it became deactivated, I turned it on again and it started lagging again. After many restarts, it didn't fix. I let it shut down from the battery twice and now it lags much less. In my opinion, it's not worth more than 150 euros!
I have had the phone for 3 years and I can say that it has satisfied me. After so much use, it has shown various problems but I expected that after such a long time. The main problems are as follows: 1. Several times while I am connected to the internet, it suddenly freezes as if I turned off the wifi and I lose the connection. 2. Sometimes while I am scrolling on social media or playing a game, out of nowhere the screen freezes and for a few seconds nothing moves (the screen does not go black nor does it turn off, it just stays on the last image that was there) but then it fixes itself again. Overall, the phone with the features it has is definitely worth the money, it just shows small problems after a long period of continuous use that I believe everyone should take into account.
I give 2 stars because as a holder since June 2021, it has had many problems.
1) The battery discharges in half a day, and the power-saving function has ruined the phone for me.
2) For 200 euros that I paid, it's a bit much for this specific quality.
3) Since summer, the phone has started to lag a lot; it takes me at least 2 minutes to connect to the internet.
4) I didn't like the photos because it shows the model of the phone at the bottom.
5) In the videos, if you move, they become blurry and look like a shaky photo
The phone for its price close to 3 years ago but even now I believe it is quite good. The battery lasted 1.5 days while I was using it constantly for the first 2 years, then I started to misuse it and it barely lasted the day. On the phone, I was mainly on social media, YouTube, Netflix, and I played games more rarely so I don't have an opinion from a gaming perspective. In the last year, Instagram started to lag because when I entered and immediately tapped on the stories, it would lag quite a bit, but 2-3 months before I dropped it in the toilet, it had fixed itself so I assume it just needed an update. The camera and video are quite good but unfortunately, I have nothing to upload since, as I mentioned, it is broken.
I have had the mobile phone for about 2.5 years. Lately, especially after the last update, it is at its worst. It freezes at least 3 times a day and needs to be restarted. It has a terrible issue with social media, especially with Instagram, it freezes completely. At the price I bought it, around 160€ if I remember correctly, it was okay, but now I definitely do not recommend it.
Well, I have had the phone for 2 years now, knowing very well its positives and negatives. Initially, for those thinking of getting it, I personally recommend it, but you should know that it won't last you more than 2.5 years without freezing. It froze on me for the first time in the first year with heavy use. It has a very good battery, it easily lasts a day with heavy use, and you should know that I, having it for 2 years, find it quite laggy. It has a decent camera, quite good screen resolution, and good video quality, but not so great during the day. Lastly, for me, it is worth the money. I hope I helped those users who are on the fence about whether to get it or not. That's it!!!
From the first moment I got it, it stuck and closed by itself....so I have more than two applications that stick a bit...otherwise, it's fine but the biggest issue is that it sticks a lot...
The worst mobile phone I have ever bought, I have had it for two years and the problems started from the first few months. It needs to be restarted many times because it freezes completely, it deletes my photos and videos as well as files. No matter how I approach it, it has problems.
The worst phone I have ever bought. It shows X on the SIM cards when you have data turned on. The storage space is permanently insufficient. An older model I had could fit more apps. Just tragic!
3 years later... Its usage is mainly for calls, photos, and social media. It has not been used for gaming at all. The photos are decent for its age and price. With gcam, it becomes a real weapon... for those who are more involved with mobile phones, it is worth installing gcam as it significantly improves the quality. The video is quite average but expected... As for the processor, it hasn't had any major issues so far, although there is a slight lag during scrolling that is noticeable. Calls on the phone, Viber, Messenger, all work fine, I can hear them clearly, everything is good. Overall, for such light usage, without gaming requirements, it is worth it.
Also, the charger in the package only lasted 2.5 years. The cable broke and the charger short-circuited and burned at some point, which was very dangerous. The quality of the charger is very good
The worst phone I have ever used.
I have had it for less than 2 years, but it started having problems from the very first months.
I no longer play games on it, but when I tried to play PUBG in the first days after I bought the phone, it got very hot.
Since then, it has had countless problems. It freezes, hangs at random moments, and needs to be restarted constantly, while you definitely can't enjoy Instagram. As long as you are watching stories, at some point the phone will freeze, and the only thing that saves you is a restart. There were periods when I couldn't receive calls because when someone called me, I could only hear the sound and the call wouldn't show up, periods when if you dared to press the lock button, it would start doing continuous automatic restarts without stopping, until you rebooted it. The format I did, of course, changed nothing. It freezes so much that I get notifications saying "the UI system application has stopped working."
I wouldn't give even 50 euros for this thing; the only thing it's worth is its battery and camera.
The phone is very good and fast, but the color polar white that it shows in the photo is not like that in reality. It runs all the games very well. It also has 3GB of RAM, but you can change it to 4GB from the settings. All the cameras are perfect except for the macro one, which is completely useless. Also, it does not support Fortnite, not because the processor can't run it, but because XIAOMI does not allow it. That is, on the Redmi Note 8 that I have, it runs.
It was sticking from the first day. It is impossible to have Messenger open along with another application, it crashes the entire system. I bought it out of necessity and I regret the money I wasted.
I have had this mobile phone for about a year and a half and the microphone has almost completely stopped working, so I can't speak. It also freezes quite often
I bought it in 2021 and I'm about to reach a year with it. I wonder why I haven't thrown it off the balcony yet. When I play games, after 10 minutes, the phone heats up and freezes, and it might even get stuck to the point where I can't do anything. This phone is not for me, it's for those who don't use it daily. If you want to get a phone, it's better to get a Samsung or another model from Xiaomi.
It was freezing from the first moment I bought it, but not too much. I have ended up having this phone for a year and a half and I don't even know how I haven't thrown it off a balcony with how much it freezes. Every day the screen will freeze and sometimes it even restarts by itself. If you're thinking about buying it, don't :)
I bought this specific mobile phone in September 2020. The phone started freezing from the first month, even though I hadn't filled up the storage space much, and it would sometimes completely freeze. I mainly use the phone for social media and gaming. The battery used to last for 2 days at the beginning, but now it only lasts for 1 day. Also, after the 12.5.4 update, it loses the 4G signal and I have to stay on 3G, otherwise it constantly crashes from the apps I'm using.
Update: March 2023. After the updates to MIUI 13, the phone takes a VERY long time to turn on if it's turned off, and it still freezes incredibly, to the point where I can't even view Instagram stories because if I view more than 4 in a row, it will completely freeze until I restart it. (I have the model with 128GB that used to be available, but it's no longer sold on Skroutz).
It is the worst mobile phone that exists, do not make the mistake of getting it. From the first day I got it, it lagged a lot and it would often kick me out of social media. And now that I have had it for a year, the screen freezes every 10 minutes and takes an hour to fix. Unacceptable
The worst purchase I have ever made. From the first month, it started freezing. While using various applications like Instagram and others, the screen would freeze and I had to restart it. Definitely, with the same budget, you can get a Samsung and have it for years. The battery lasted relatively well. The most annoying and tiring thing, as I mentioned before, were the freezes it experienced. I have had various Samsung phones in my hands. In a similar budget, and if I remember correctly, around 120€, it was much better than this particular product. The only issue I encountered was after two and a half years when the Wi-Fi antenna broke and needed a repair costing around 50€. It is truly better to spend 200€ and get a Samsung instead of paying 170€ for this, and you will be satisfied. Even if you spend 120€ to get a Samsung, you will still be satisfied and definitely more pleased than with this product. It was a huge mistake to switch from Samsung to Xiaomi.
The mobile phone was okay the first month. Then all the applications started to bug, it heats up easily, battery is okay relatively, I don't have a problem with that. The big issue is that applications keep closing and overall, it has a lot of bugs. The worst phone I have ever bought, being the owner of a Mi Redmi Note 5, Mi A1, Mi A2. I have had this phone for a year and a half and I am considering changing companies, even though I have been satisfied for so many years. Failure
