TLDR: Very good device that I wouldn't recommend buying. Don't listen to the advertisements and those who have been paid; really, without Play Services, it will drive you crazy, and this comes from someone who deals with technology. Read about the operating system below to get a better picture.
The following review is written after about 3 years of using the P40 Pro, mainly for those who might want to acquire it instead of some low-range phone in 2024+. I have been using Huawei phones steadily since the P10.
- Very nice screen; I really never felt that it didn't meet my needs even once in the 3 years of use, and the 90Hz was flawless - although I've never tried 120Hz. The only complaint is the curved design, which, while very beautiful, does not allow for easy application of a screen protector.
- The build quality is very good, and the phone has a very nice design. Personally, I prefer it over the flagship S24 Ultra, iPhone, etc.; it seems more premium to me.
- The cameras are very good, although I would now say quite outdated. The main camera remains up to standard. The ultrawide never seemed that wide to me, to be honest. The telephoto lens was once satisfactory; now I feel it is outdated, and the quality is quite mediocre. Generally, for someone who uses a phone for general purposes, I believe it will cover them 100%. For more advanced users, you might want to go for something more advanced. Personally, I play with Pro Mode settings only with the main lens.
- The video is quite good as well, although I believe the advertised cinematic video of the ultrawide camera has worse quality than the video in x1. The stabilization is good; sometimes artifacts may appear, and often the 5x takes time to focus - it seems that for a short period, it simply crops the x1 setting.
- The battery was excellent in the first years of use - it easily lasted me a whole day. Now it needs charging maybe 2 times a day - of course, I constantly play music and consume media, so that's acceptable. It charges VERY FAST. Here, I should mention that a key factor is also the apps running in the background, which I will refer to right below.
- OPERATING SYSTEM: This device was the first released after the infamous ban, so it comes to us without a trace of Play Services. As someone who generally deals quite a bit with technology, I decided to take the risk. The device comes with EMUI 10 and now allows upgrades to EMUI 11 and EMUI 12. The updates were incredibly slow; we were really shocked to receive any security patch.
1) What works out of the box NOW: Almost all banks have joined Huawei's App Gallery and work seamlessly. For any other application, there is the option to install via Aurora Store or simply APKs. WARNING, it is not certain that they will work.
2) What worked and now does not work: Contactless payments via the bank apps, which have now been integrated exclusively into Google Wallet. The only alternative is Curve, which is slightly disappointing to use.
3) What DID NOT work + does not work: Anything related to Google. WARNING, when we say that the phone does not support Google, we do not mean the company's apps; that would be nothing. We mean ALL applications that require Google Services. For example, the COSMOTE App, WhatsApp, and many others. This directly affects notifications, and that is the biggest negative for me. NOTIFICATIONS DO NOT COME or they come late.
4) What can someone do to make certain applications work:
a) Install Gbox or Gspace. They are essentially virtual machines that emulate another phone that has Google services. They have ads, often crash, and consume a lot of battery.
b) Install MicroG. MicroG is an open-source project that replaces the basic Play Services so that we have functionality for the applications that require them. However, for them to work fully, signature spoofing is required, which Huawei has added to devices running EMUI 13.1+. So, for them to work decently, you need to wait for EMUI 13.1+ (if it comes). Again, do not expect 100% functionality. If the conditions are met, you will be able to use Google applications with login capability, EXCEPT for contactless transactions, Android Auto, and others.
c) The last solution and what I did is converting the global model to the Chinese one. Yes, you heard right. Because Huawei is more interested in the Chinese market and has disregarded us, they have decided to launch the latest software version HarmonyOS 4.2 in the P40 series in China and leave the rest of the world on EMUI 12. The Harmony 4.2 version provides signature spoofing and allows for 100% functionality of applications that require Google services. The conversion is not easy and I DID NOT do it myself. There are certain people (e.g., GMS Install & ministry of solutions) who can do it remotely. One of the negatives is the absence of the playstore for sure and the fact that as soon as you touch the screen, the Screenshot function opens, which allows you to take screenshots from a distance by simply lifting your hand, without any reason. Additionally, I couldn't put a protective glass due to the curvature, resulting in one day the phone falling and the screen breaking completely. The damage would cost around 300 something, so I preferred to get another one. However, it is otherwise a very good device.

Η κάμερα αλλοιώνει τα χρώματα. Ειδικά με τιε αποχρώσεις του κόκκινου, το χάνει τελείως.
Η έλλειψη Google services ειναι οντως πρόβλημα, ειδικά όταν οι αντίστοιχες εφαρμογές (αν υπάρχουν) δεν είναι εξίσου πρακτικές.
Πολλές εφαρμογές δεν υπάρχουν καθόλου για huawei κινητά.
Το AI search της huawei, που εγκαθίσταται αυτόματα στο κινητό με κάποιες ενημερώσεις λογισμικού είναι αδύνατο να απεγκατασταθεί. Και πάρα πολύ ενοχλητικό.
Το τζαμακι της κάμερας είναι έτσι που τριβεται όπου κι αν ακουμπήσεις το κινητό και φθείρεται, και οι περισσότερες θήκες δεν έχουν προστασία για αυτό.
Αν βάλεις προστατευτικο στην οθόνη, αυτό είναι αδύνατο να εφαρμόσει καλά, λόγω της καμπυλότητας στο πλάι, και βγαίνει πολύ εύκολα, οπότε δεν προσφέρει προστασία τελικά.

Ότι χειρότερο έχω κρατήσει σε συσκευή huawei όπου ακολουθώ απο p10 το ότι δεν υπάρχει google σε κάνει να εχεις τις εφαρμογές μέσου άλλον εφαρμογών και αυτό κάνει το κινητό να λαγκαρι και να στέλνει συνέχεια ειδοποίηση οοτι δεν εκτελούνται καλα οι εφαρμογές.. Το καλύτερο κινητό που εδώ δουλέψει μέχρι τώρα, γρήγορο, πολύ καλή κάμερα, φοβερό ζουμ. Το έχω εδώ και 2 χρόνια και δουλεύει όπως την πρώτη μέρα που το αγωρασα, το μόνο αρνητικό που μπορώ να αναφέρω όταν με κλόουν κάποιες φορές το touchscreen δεν με αφήνει να σηκώσω και πρέπει να του κλείσω την οθόνη και ξανά μέχρι να δουλέψει, αυτό μάλλον γιατί είναι εκεί από κάτω ο αισθητήρας του δαχτυλικου και είναι πιο ευαίσθητο.

Μετά απο αρκετούς μήνες σκέψης για αγορά του κινητού (κυρίως λόγω έλλειψης google) αποφάσισα τελικά να το πάρω κ το έχω πλέον στην κατοχή μου εδώ και 1 μηνα περίπου.
Παράλληλα κάτοχος P30 εδώ και τριαμιση χρόνια.
Και δεν κρατήθηκα από το να μπω στη διαδικασία να τα συγκρίνω το ενα δίπλα στο άλλο. Και να πω την μαύρη μου αληθεια, απογοητευτηκα κάπως απο το P40pro.
Και εξηγούμαι...
Σίγουρα είναι πιο γρήγορο απο το προηγούμενο αλλα οχι τοσο όσο. Ανοιγω ξεχωριστά ολες τις εφαρμογές σοσιαλ κτλ και το p40pro ισα που ειναι πιο γρηγορο από το p30. Ανοιγω καμερες, και γενικα οσες ιδιες εφαρμογές εχω και στα δύο και σχεδόν σε ολες η διαφορα στην ταχυτητα ανοίγματος και ανανέωσης ειναι πολυ μικρή. Και να θυμίσω οτι το p30 το εχω 3.50 χρονια ενω το p40 μολις ενα μήνα. Ας μην πω για το οτι το p30 ανοίγει πολυ πιο γρήγορα σαν συσκευή αν τις εχεις και τις δυο κλειστές εντελώς.. Εκει κ αν ξενερωσα εντελώς.Αν πάμε δε στις κάμερες οκ σιγουρα η ανάλυση του p40pro δε συγκρινεται, το βλεπεις και στο ζουμαρισμα κτλ αλλα κατι που με ξενερωσε είναι σε νυχτερινη φωτο με φωτισμό απο λάμπες και φωτιά το p40pro κανει τις φωτο πιο κίτρινες ενω το p30 κραταει αυτο το πιο φυσικο πορτοκαλι χρωμα, αυτο δλδ που βλεπουμε με τα ματια μας εκείνη την ώρα.
Οσον αφορα τα Google services η μετάβαση γινεται νομιζω πολυ εύκολα, χωρίς κανένα θεμα, τα βρισκεις ολα στο petal και στο app gallery. Αρχικα κατεβασα gspace αλλα ξενέρωσα γιατί κάνει διπλασιο χρόνο να ανοίξει τις εφαρμογές καθώς πρέπει πρώτα να ανοιξει το gspace και μετά να σου ανοίξει την εφαρμογή. Ξενερα, κατι που δεν το γραφει και κανενας εδω μέσα και σου λεει οτι σου λυνει τα χέρια. Ναι μπορει σε κάποιες εφαρμογες οπως στα google maps να σε βοηθαει αν θες να κανεις login με τον λογαριασμο σου, αλλα σε ολες γενικά τρωει αρκετο χρονο να ανοίξει κ ασε που τρώει και μπαταρια για να ειναι ανοιχτη στο παρασκηνιο κ να ανοίγουν πιο γρηγορα οι εφαρμογες. Οχι απο μενα ειναι fail το gspace, προτιμησα το petal κ ολα κομπλε.
Facebook, messenger, instagram, viber, whatsapp, tiktok, outlook για την ώρα πάνε ρολόι το μονο θεμα εχω με το messenger οπου όταν μου έρχεται ενα μήνυμα δν μου βγαζει αυτο το στρογγυλό εικονίδιο του συνομιλητή μπροστά στην οθόνη, πρέπει να μπω στην εφαρμογή ή να κατεβάσω την μπάρα απο πανω για να δω ποιος εχει στειλει. Ακομα δν εχω καταλάβει αν θέλει καποια ρύθμιση, τα εχω ψαξει ολα.
Τράπεζες ολες κομπλε πληρωμες ειδοποιησεις ολα κανενα θεμα.
Youtube vanced κ έχεις το κεφάλι σου ήσυχο για τα επομενα δυο χρονια σίγουρα γτ πλέον η google απειλησε κ ετσι η εφαρμογή δν τρέχει παντού, πρεπει να την κατεβασεις απο ενα λινκ σε κάποιο σαιτ που σε παραπέμπουν αυτοί. Απαξ κ το κατεβάσετε όμως μπορεις να κανεις και login με τον λογαριασμο σου να εχεις ιστορικο κτλ και φυσικά τα πάντα χωρις διαφημίσεις, μιλαμε για σωτηρία τωρα οχι αστεία.Συνοψιζοντας δε ξέρω, ακομα ίσως ειναι νωρίς αλλα μου φαινεται η αναβάθμιση απο p30 δεν είναι αυτό που περίμενα. Αν εξαιρεσεις την οθόνη του φυσικά που μπορει να τρέχει και στα 120 hz.
Αν ειχα το p30pro νομίζω δε θα εμπαινα καν στη διαδικασία να το αλλάξω, απλα ήθελα έτσι μια ανανέωση κ επειδή καμια εταιρεία δεν με ικανοποιουσε οσο η huawei είπα να πάω στο p40pro. Απέφυγα να παω στο p50pro γτ απ οτι διάβαζα έχει ψιλομαπα μπαταρία κ οχι 5g. Και οκ θα μου πείτε το 4g θα ειναι για πολλα χρονια ακομα και δν κόβεται κτλ κτλ κ οτι το να ζητας 5g ειναι γελοίο μπλα μπλα... Αλλα το ανοιξα.. Δοκιμάστε και εσεις να σερφαρετε με 5g και μετα τα λέμε. Αν βρίσκομαι σε περιοχή με 5g,ασυζητητί ανοιχτό. Πιο γρηγορο απο wifi.
Αλλα 5 αστέρια γιατί ακόμα που μπορει να με ψιλοξενερωσε σε καποια θέματα, φυσικά και ειναι υπερκινηταρα οπως και οι προηγουμενες γενιες του.

Κάτοχος του τηλεφώνου από τον Αύγουστο του 2020. Είναι η καλύτερη συσκευή που έχω χρησιμοποιήσει εδώ και αρκετά χρόνια σε θέματα μπαταρίας φωτογραφίας και σήματος. Το τηλέφωνο δεν έχει κολλήσει ΠΟΤΈ με πολύ απαιτητική χρήση.
Το μόνο ελαφρύ αρνητικό που μετά από καιρό συνηθίζεται είναι τα Google services αλλά εάν ψαχτείς λίγο υπάρχουν αρκετές λύσεις.
Η γενική εικόνα της συσκευής είναι άριστη!- Call quality

Το έχω στην κατοχή μου δύο χρόνια!
ΕΞΑΙΡΕΤΙΚΟ σε όλα!!!
Αυτή την στιγμή λειτουργεί επίσημα με Play Store κατεβάζοντας μέσα από το App gallery την εφαρμογή Gspace έχεις τα πάντα στο τηλέφωνο σου. Εκεί μέσα θα βρείτε το Play Store και ότι περιέχει αυτό! χωρίς να χρειαστεί να χακάρεις το τηλέφωνο. Το έχω κατεβάσει και λειτουργούν όλα άψογα! Ιδιαίτερα το Google maps στο οποίο είχα θέμα, για όλες τις υπόλοιπες εφαρμογές δεν το συζητώ καν, λειτουργούν κανονικότατα!!
Όποιος προλάβει και το πάρει σώθηκε! :)- Call quality

Αν είχε Google services θα ήταν το απόλυτο τηλέφωνο.
Συγκρίνοντας την περίοδο που το είχα με Google services με την περίοδο που το έχω χωρίς, θεωρώ ότι λειτουργεί πολύ καλύτερα χωρίς. Αυτό όμως σημαίνει έλλειψη κάποιων εφαρμογών και όχι τόση ευκολία στην ενημέρωση όσων είναι μέσω apkpure, aptoide κλπ.
Η κάμερά του είναι συγκλονιστική. Μέρα νύχτα.
Εξαιρετική αναγνώριση προσώπου για ξεκλείδωμα.
Δεν κολλάει, αποκρίνεται γρήγορα και τρέχει γρήγορα τις εφαρμογές.
Δεν ξέρω τι έχει κάνει η Huawei, αλλά μετά από κάθε update το τηλέφωνο πάει σφαίρα.
Φορτίζει γρήγορα και έχει και γρήγορη ασύρματη φόρτιση.
Όταν κάνεις casting σε τηλεόραση έχει δυνατότητα desktop και είναι σαν υπολογιστής.
Ωραία οθόνη και φωτεινότητα.Η επικάλυψη της οθόνης δεν κράτησε πολύ. Μετά από λίγο καιρό γέμιζε αποτυπώματα και δε γλυστρούσε καλά.

Πρώην κάτοχος του p30 pro και με αυτό θα το συγκρίνω. Στην αρχή ταλαιπωρήθηκα για να βάλω Google services, για να δουλέψει όπως το προηγούμενο. Δεν λειτουργεί το google pay και η εφαρμογή winbank κρασαρει. Επίσης η macro φωτογράφιση έχει καταργηθεί
Τώρα τα θετικά:
Φωτογραφίες απίθανες σε σκοτάδι.
Βίντεο με πολύ καλή σταθεροποίηση.
Αρκετά γρήγορο αλλά κάποιες φορές αργεί.
Ιδανικό μέγεθος.
Καλή μπαταρία
Καλή ποιότητα κατασκευής
Πολύ καλό ζύγισμα στο χέρι
Το petal maps είναι πάρα πολύ καλό!!!
Ιδανική χωρητικότητα 256gb, με καρτούλα 128gb με κάνει πλήρως αυτόνομο!
Ο ήχος παρά το ότι είναι μονοφωνικός είναι αρκετά δυνατός και ποιοτικός.
Τέλειος συνδυασμός με το GT 2 pro, με το matepad και το laptop της huawei που το περιμένω αυτές τις μέρες.
Για τα 350€ που το αγόρασα, 1 μηνός, VFMoney....!!!!
Πιστεύω ότι το καινούργιο p50 pro δεν έχει τόσο καλή ποιότητα κατασκευής.
Σκοπεύω να το κρατήσω δύο χρόνια.
Για να πάω στο mate 50 pro.
Αν συνδύαζα τα αντίστοιχα προϊόντα της apple, θα ήθελα τουλάχιστον 2 χιλιάρικα παραπάνω για να μου κάνουν την ίδια δουλειά.
Ευχαριστώ τους φίλους και τις φίλες που έγραψαν τις κριτικές πριν από μένα και ελπίζω να βοηθήσω και τους μελλοντικούς αγοραστές. αν και τώρα καινούργιο έχει ανέβει τόσο πολύ η τιμή του, που είναι καλύτερα κάποιος να πάει στο πιο καινούργιο μοντέλο της huawei.
Τέλος δεν θα το συγκρίνω με καμία DSLR, είναι εντελώς διαφορετική αίσθηση και άλλες δυνατότητες φωτογραφίας.- Call quality

Θα τα πω οσο ποιο συνοπτηκα μπωρω .Το τηλεφωνο για τα λευτα του Αξίζει αλλα εγω δεν το αγόρασα απο Ελλαδα.
Το πειρα απο Λονδίνο ,περιπου 400ευρο δλδ 350 λίρες.αλλα εχει δυο χρονια το τηλέφωνο απο τοτε που βγηκε.Και παλη ισως ειναι απο τα γρηγορότερα που υπαρχει εκει εξω.
-Στο θεμα αποδοσεις ,πεταει και ερχωμαι απο πρωην κατοχως του s8 plus ειδια τημη 400 ευρο.και ηταν η χειροτερη αγορα που ειχα κανει κολαγε αφανταστα και με επαναφορα που του ειχα κανει κολαγε καλυτερα το s7 edge ΣΟΒΑΡΑ για τοτε
-Μπαταρια ,ειναι καλη αμα κανεις ομως συμβιβασμους δηλαδη αμα δεν εχεις το 5g ανοιχτο ολη την ωρα και μπενεις youtube κλπ.(εγω πρωσοπικα το ανοιγω οταν θελω να κατευασω κανενα Αρχείο γρηγορα)
Γενικα βγαζει μια ημερα ΚΑΝΟΝΙΚΗΣ ΧΡΗΣΗΣ ΓΙΑ ΕΜΕΝΑ
Τι εννοώ δλδ μπενω ινστα, βλεπω βιντεο, κλπ
Δεν κεγομαι σαν κατι fake που παιζουν fortnite με τα δάχτυλά τους, η pugb. Την φωτεινότητα την εχω φουλ και δεν με νιαζει τα εχω ολα ανοιχτα πχ gps,δεδομένα κλπ
Εγω τι προτιμαω τωρα τον γρήγορο φωρτιστη που εχει στο κουτι του μην τον βαλετε γιατι ΖΕΣΤΕΝΕΤΕ βαλτε εναν με χαμιλοτερα watt γιατι χαλαει η μπαταρια πιο γριγορα πχ εγω εχω της σαμσουνγκ 13 watt αντι για 40 που εχει θα κανετε περισσοτερο για να αλλαξετε τηλέφωνο
-Εφαρμογες το τηλεφωνο το πειρα τοσο φθηνά σε αριστη κατασταση
ελαφρος μεταχειρισμενο (grade A)
Και ηταν τοσο φθινο γιατι πιο πολη για τα google services
Εγω παλη δεν με πειραξε τοσο υπαρχουν λύσεις πχ gspace το κατεβαζεις απο το gallery app και ειναι σαν play store πχ τα παιχνιδια μου εκει τα εχω.Εχει μικροθεματακια πχ στο ινσταγκραμ δεν μου εδειχνε της ειδοπιοισεις και στο messeger και πολυ απλα το κατευασα απο το gallery εμενα αυτο δεν με προβληματισε κανενα απο αυτα.Μονο ενα πραγμα με ενιαζε εμενα το google pay που εκει μπωρουσα να εχω ολους τους λογαριασμούς μου χωρεις να ψαχνομαι δηστιχως δεν δουλευει
Και μην ψαχνεται για το huawei wallet ειναι για boarding passesκαι κουπονια κλπ
-Καμερα Η ΚΑΛΥΤΕΡΗ!! Οχι νταξει να λεμε και την αληθεια ειναι παρα πολυ καλη αμα ξερεις να την χρησημοπιοις εγω αυτες που βλεπετε που εβγαλα τον γαλαξία ημουνα στο σπιτι μου που ειχε λιγο light pollution και το εκανα στο pro mode οχι στο night mode για καποιο λογο το night mode μου την εβγαζε σε καποια σειμια πρασινιλες ελαφρως αλλα με λιγο edit βγήκαν πολυ καλες σε μια που φενετε ενα καλοδιο στην μεση και ενα πεφτοαστερη στην γωνια ειναι τελειως απειραχτη στα χρωματα απλα βγηκε λιγο ποιο φωτινη και απλα κατεβασα την φωτεινότητα.
Και η φοτο ειναι σαν ψεφτικες.
Παιδια πηγεντε καλητερα για το p50 pro γιατι εχουν την ειδια τιμή αλλα το τηλέφωνο αμα του δωσεις χρωνο θα σου δωσει οτι εχει

Ένα από τα καλύτερα τηλέφωνα που έχω!!!
Δεν έχει κολλήσει ποτέ και για κανένα λόγο, πάρα πολύ γρήγορο σε ότι κάνει. Οι κάμερες έγιναν ακόμη καλύτερες μετά την ενημέρωση που έγινε,και ημέρα αλλά κυρίως νύχτα είναι ότι καλύτερο. Σε απόλυτο σκοτάδι με αναμμένο λαμπάκι νυκτός και σου βγάζει καθαρή φωτογραφία έχω πάθει πλάκα.
Η μπαταρία μετά από ενάμιση χρόνο κρατάει ακόμη 2 μερες με ελαφρά χρήση στην ημέρα.
Γενικά απόλυτα ικανοποιημένος θα το κρατήσω μέχρι να "σβήσει" από μπαταρία.- Call quality

Ίσως ένα από τα καλύτερα κινητά της Huawei, αν δεν την πολεμούσαν οι Αμερικανοί και είχε και google play store, θα ήταν το πιο ολοκληρωμένο!!!

Regarding the issue with Google, most apps are available in Huawei's market and also in the Petal search app. I also downloaded a similar app, Aurora market, which has everything inside, with updates regularly like the Play store and better in my opinion. Anyone who wants to get this device should do it without a second thought.

Θα ήταν πολύ καλό αν είναι playstore της Google γτ οι περισσότερες εφαρμογές δεν δουλεύουν σωστά ή και καθόλου.. Θεωρώ ότι το κινητό θα άξιζε πολύ αν δεν υπήρχε το app gallery και το apkpure και υπήρχε όπως στα παλιότερα το playstore σαν το samsung.. Δεν πρόκειται να ξαναπάρω κινητό αν δεν είναι apple ή Samsung που δουλεύουν σωστά οι εφαρμογές... Πεταμένα λεφτά αν το Huawei p40 pro που δεν δουλεύουν σωστά οι εφαρμογές...

Ένα smartphone από τα καλύτερα στην αγορά. Αν και δεν έχει τις υπηρεσίες Google, για μένα ευτυχώς,

Το καλύτερο κινητό που είχα ποτέ. Φωτογραφίες και βίντεο τραβάει φοβερά. Καλό ηχείο γρήγορο σερφαρισμα. Δεν κολλάει και η μπαταρία κρατάει μέρες.
