Description

It is a warming, stimulating herb that improves digestion and has beneficial effects on the liver and circulatory system. It has expectorant and estrogenic actions. It is an effective remedy against spasms of the internal muscles (stomach and intestines).

It helps expel gas from the intestines and increases the secretion of fluids from the endocrine glands. The essential oil is expelled gradually from the body and helps in clearing phlegm from the respiratory tracts.

It is used for disorders of the stomach and intestines, against cough and irritation of the upper respiratory tract, as well as for hoarseness of voice. Particularly effective in children for bronchial problems and asthma.

The decoction of the seeds has a good action and is advised as a diuretic in diseases of the kidneys, liver, and pancreas in combination with other preparations. It is recommended for nursing mothers as it increases milk production. It combines well with mint for digestive problems and intestinal colic.

The seeds of anise also combine with the flowers of hawthorn to improve heart function. Externally, the oil can be combined with ointment for the treatment of scabies and helps in the expulsion of lice.

The root of the plant is used in the preparation of tinctures against sore throat, pharyngitis, laryngitis, and bronchitis. The fresh root is anti-diarrheal. The homeopathic tincture of the root is recommended for headaches and nosebleeds.

How to Use: It is prepared as an infusion. Before use, lightly crush the seeds. Pour boiling water over 1-2 tablespoons of seeds and let it steep, covered, for 10-15 minutes. Drink a cup three times a day.

  • For bloating, drink the infusion before meals.
  • For children up to one year, use 1 gram of seeds in a cup of water.
  • For children aged 1-4 years, use 2 grams of seeds in a cup of water.
  • For children over 4 years old, use the adult dosage.
  • Dosage of essential oil 0.05-0.2 ml three times daily.
  • Dosage of tincture 0.3-1 ml three times a day.

Precautions: Anise may cause an allergic reaction. The use of anise oil is not recommended for individuals with dermatitis. Excessive consumption of anise may cause neurological effects.
