I had the Philips air fryer 0.8 liters (for 1-2 people) for 8 years and replaced it due to wear and tear (daily use). I decided to buy an air fryer with a larger basket (for 3-4 people) and ended up with this one, which is also economical.
So, what can someone literally bake without oil or with minimal oil (we never put oil inside the basket!! We just brush it on):
- Fried potatoes mixed with a little oil or frozen without oil, directly in the basket.
- All frozen pastries on parchment paper (if you don't want to dirty the basket and the container).
- Small and large pizzas (fresh or frozen).
- Meat (steaks) or fresh whole or sliced chicken (in a disposable aluminum tray, if you don't want to dirty the basket and container).
- Chicken nuggets (fresh or frozen), or fish sticks (on parchment paper).
- Fish (in a tray if you don't want to dirty it).
- Sausages - although the manual advises against it because they release a lot of liquid - fat (I bake them in a tray just fine).
- Burgers - meatballs (for the same reason, in a tray).
- Pita bread for souvlaki or to make crispy bread. And anything else someone wants.
Timer for 60 minutes (in 2-minute intervals) with an audible signal at the end of the time and a thermostat (up to 200°).
Everything can be baked directly in the basket, just clean relatively easily each time (depends on the fats that have fallen and dried inside the basket and container), with a damp kitchen cloth or wash in the sink or dishwasher. Everything is easier with the use of a tray.
We can bake, for the smells, under the extractor fan. I haven't used it outdoors (not recommended in the manual).
It literally solves the hands in the kitchen and significantly reduces the use of the oven.
I hope it will withstand time as well, although I trust First Austria, because I have several of their small appliances and an electric barbecue. I am very satisfied.
Stay away from this specific fryer. After 2 months of use, I noticed rust around the inner basket (metal) all around the rim. The manufacturing mistake lies in the inner basket that connects with the outer one. As a result, the prongs scrape the inner basket and it rusts. Unacceptable. Return to the dealership and communicate...cock-a-doodle-doo
The service is located in Thessaloniki. I mention this because you will need it. The fryer’s fuse blows and it stops working. Don’t waste your money. I have already sent it once. Now it has broken again and I will throw it away.
Fourth time the thermostat has broken. It's spent more time in service than at home. Fourth and last time, the warranty has expired and it's going to be thrown away. 1.5 months at the dealership and it worked three times. STAY AWAYYYYYYYYY
Regarding the fan's nut, I have the following to say:
1. During use, it loosens and makes noise because the fan touches the resistor.
2. I tried tightening the nut twice, but after a while, it loosened again!!!!
3. I found a solution to the problem when I was able to screw on a second nut (what we call a lock nut). Now everything is okay!!!!
Top. Anyway, it's good but when you consider the price, it's even better. Simple without buttons and nonsense. Temperature, time, and it lasts you a lifetime.
Cooking-wise, I have no complaints and I like that the thermostat and timer are manual and not digital. But in a year and a half, it broke down twice and went for service. What a pity, it's not worth it.
The worst purchase ever. Fresh potatoes for 4 people took 1 hour. The bin got scratched as soon as I opened it. It was replaced, but the other one had the same problem. Stay away
I have it for quite some time now. Good city. It cooks quickly. It has a manual that tells you time and temperature for each food. A few drops of oil and a little turning depending on what we will bake. It makes perfect potatoes, zucchini chips, perfect steak. I have nothing bad to say about this air fryer. I have made perfect cake and omelette. Meringue for pavlova. It's perfect
Very good construction fast fits three steaks Lemou comfortably makes very nice grilling ... I would recommend to most friends to grill at 180-190 for longer time and not full throttle with 200 .... after a year it stopped working but logical it grilled a lot of food anyway since I am a technician I opened the machine there is a thermal safety inside you open it carefully it is like a little barrel that touches the bucket when it exceeds the limits it burns easily replaced with 1 euro cost and it is ready again for many grilling very good product I recommend it from every point of view and the bucket fits perfectly and the buttons are all fine !!!
Stay away from this specific fryer, apart from the fact that the detachable basket did not come out easily because the little iron bars that release one basket from the other kept getting stuck, and with great difficulty and many attempts I managed to separate the baskets to wash them, apart from all that, after 2-3 washes the bottom part (the color) of the basket broke and the food started sticking. So, apart from all these issues, after one year of purchase, not usage, the fryer already burned out. Money wasted. If you are going to spend money on an air fryer, it's better to get another one that actually works.
I have had it for a year and it is getting ready to go for service for the second time for the same reason. And I, like many others as I see in the comments, have (for the second time) a very strong noise, which from what I read is the loosening of the fan screw.
The dealership is in Thessaloniki, which means I will have to send it to them and stay without an air fryer for about a month.
If it hadn't happened, I would be absolutely satisfied with the product. But from what I see, it causes quite a few problems for many users. I would not buy it again.
Update SOS: whoever has an issue with the loud noise, the central screw (peg) that holds the fan (the one I show in the photo) has simply come loose. The first time it fell and I freaked out, now I just tightened it myself and the noise stopped again, saving me from dealerships and troubles. If I did it, anyone could
The food does not lose its moisture. They come out very tasty. Whatever you put in, it does it perfectly. Potatoes, chicken, burgers, wings, steaks, etc. We just add a little oil and nothing else.
After 3 years of use, 2-3 times a week, it has paid off. The potatoes it produces are very good. It has also endured a camping season with intensive use. It hasn't had any issues whatsoever.
In the 9 months of almost daily use, it started making a squeaking noise that turned into a loud noise. Eventually, the screw that held the fan had come loose. Although it is under warranty, I tightened it myself and the noise stopped. The bin has lost its coating in some areas without me having rubbed it particularly hard. Other than that, it does its job. I will come back with a newer review.
It worked correctly for about 4-5 months and then started experiencing the issue of the safety falling off and needing to open it and press the white button inside. Recently, it stopped working during cooking time. I saw that many people had this problem and didn't get any help from the warranty, so I bought another one because I didn't have time to waste. Stay away from this one, I don't recommend it
Personal experience very bad for the aforementioned airfryer model. I took it for repair twice at the technical department in the area of Evosmos, Thessaloniki. It has a resistor inside to deactivate the device in case of fire or heavy smoke, at least that's what they told me. So, the problem is that this safety feature fails easily and you have to open the front lid and put your hand inside the cables, which is of course prohibited. They gave me a second brand-new device, same model, and it has the exact same issue. Stay away from this particular model, material defect or factory problem.
Stay away from this product. I sent it for service three times and in the end, I gave it to them as a gift. I didn't receive it back at all. It broke the same button three times. The first time they fixed it, the second time I paid 25€, and the third time they wanted another 25€. They didn't even mention replacing it. They told me it was full of oil and when I asked if they cleaned it, they sarcastically said that it's not their job to clean buttons. They treated me with irony and disrespect
I have the fryer for 15 months. The first year I was completely satisfied. I had greatly reduced the use of the electric stove. Of course, even though the basket is large, you cannot cook a large quantity of food (e.g. it can fit 2 fish or 3 chicken thighs). The positive thing is that you can cook healthier, without oil.
However, after exactly one year, it stopped working. I took it for service twice within 2 weeks (fortunately within warranty), but the problem was not fixed. So, they replaced it with another identical fryer, slightly used (which means someone returned it due to a problem!). And in this one, the safety keeps tripping and it stops working constantly.
I would give it 1 star, but I'm giving it 3 because I was satisfied the first year, but it seems there is an expiration date...
In the first week, the plastic wheel that adjusts the time broke. Terrible construction. In the following month, the fryer was squeaking so loudly that it could be heard throughout the apartment building. The screw on the fan had come loose. Within 6 months and 3 days, it started tripping the circuit breaker. And today, while I was cooking potatoes, it suddenly stopped working and couldn't be restarted.
Do not make the mistake of buying it. The construction is extremely poor. After a few "fryings", the screw that holds the fan came off, resulting in it hitting the hot air resistors, scratching and causing chaos. Maybe that's why many complain about the noise. I tightened it well with a wrench, but in vain. Now the fan has completely come off the screw and I can't put it back on. Money wasted. Stay away
I have had this specific fryer in my possession for 7 months now... I will start with the positives... The basket can fit a whole chicken, which means its capacity is good... It cooks quickly with minimal or no oil, making it cost-effective... The only negative thing I can say is that it may take some time to figure out the cooking times for certain foods like french fries and others that may not turn out exactly as desired.
I loved it! I have had it for several months now. I bought a potato cutter from Jumbo and with it, I cut potatoes, sweet potatoes, zucchinis, beets, carrots, or I chop broccoli and cauliflower into florets... I spray them with olive oil, spray them a few times, sprinkle them with various spices and herbs, mix them up, throw them in the oven, and in 15-20 minutes, I have a ready meal without having to use the oven or deal with pots and pans and adjusting the temperature so the food doesn't stick, and without unnecessary oils, fats, and useless frying. I used to dislike vegetables (I am a pasta lover) and this wonderful device made me love vegetables!!! The mushrooms become even tastier than meat! I love it and wouldn't change it for anything!!! It's also fantastic for muffins and cakes. I have come up with my own recipe for sugar-free, gluten-free, low-carb muffins with lots of fiber and protein....vegan. You can easily bake rolls and pitas for breakfast. It's perfect!!!! I love it!!!
Truly one of the best purchases I have ever made.
Don't even think about it, get an air fryer, it will save you time and effort.
The basket is quite large, so it can hold a good amount of food.
Everything cooks easily and quickly.
You can easily find the cooking times yourself.
The basket is detachable and easy to clean.
You can also use parchment paper to avoid constant mess.
I highly recommend it
4 stars for the excellent value for money.
Otherwise, average construction, the timer loses minutes and sometimes doesn't work at all for less than 4 minutes, the temperature goes up to 200 when there are recipes that require more, it's a bit clumsy and the lack of electronic management is evident...
On the positive side, it quickly makes grilled cheese, nuggets, homemade pizza, apple & banana chips, potatoes, vegetables.
P.S.
Put the non-stick paper between the two baskets, if it goes into the top basket it burns and smells.
It is big, it looks well-made BUT it has 2 negatives that I noticed from the first moment. It makes a lot of noise and its analog timer is not accurate +-1.5 minutes (below 4 minutes many times it doesn't ring when it reaches zero - for preheating). It is a device that you get to save minutes and its timer is damn useless.
Frying and baking are done exceptionally well (2 months with moderate use). Thinly sliced potatoes with and without oil, schnitzel, frozen pies, raw burgers, reheating meat. Just open and shake the contents. For bachelors who want food in 1/3 of the oven time, it's super, but also for quick reheating outside of the microwave.
The negatives: it takes up space, the basket gets greasy if not cleaned immediately, the timer button sounds like a time bomb even when the baking is finished, as it is analog and closes with a delay even if the baking is done. Slight difficulty in removing the basket and the draining tray.
