  Give 5-10 euros and buy this instead of Monopoly, you won't regret it! I received it yesterday and spent 15-20 minutes reading the rules so I can explain them as simply as possible to my friends.

  We are 23-25 years old, so I don't know if they will like it, but from various videos I saw on YouTube, I was amazed and bought it without a second thought. The only downside, if you want, is that it is for up to 4 players instead of the classic ones like Monopoly, which is for up to 8 players.

  "The 'Escape from Devil's Island' is a game where players have to escape from an island that is being destroyed, while they have to remember where they have placed their people/players with the highest score on their board (island) to increase their final score.

  An island consisting of 40 hexagonal tiles sinks slowly into the ocean (as the tiles are removed from the board). Each player controls ten people (with scores ranging from 1 to 6) who are trying to move towards the safety of the surrounding islands before the island is ultimately destroyed.
  Players can either swim or use boats to escape from the island, but they must avoid sea monsters, whales, and sharks until they reach the shore.

  Very nice game! Awesome! Smart, strategic, suspenseful, and because it is competitive (who will eat whom to survive), it also leads to arguments!!! Hahaha!
  It has become one of our favorite games that is frequently played! It is definitely worth the money!

  Note: Regarding the part "while they have to remember where they have placed their people/players with the highest score on their board to increase their final score."

  A slight variation: We noticed that if we know the people with the highest score, it is a bit "unfair" because we intentionally place them in front and close to the boats, so we make sure to put them all in the boats first to save them and have the highest score. However, this is not very interesting, so we decided to change it by shuffling them, keeping them in our hands, and placing them blindly, without seeing who we are placing where, leaving it to chance who will be saved and how much score we will have! We liked it more (at least us) this way, and since then, we always play it like that!

  One of the nicest and family/friendly board games that exist, easy rules, nice components (board, pawns, tiles), you can easily frustrate your opponent by sending their pawns to the monsters and you trying to save them from them. Similarly, your opponent can do the same to you of course!! It's a lot of fun and highly recommended.

  The only thing I would like is for it to be playable with more than 4 players, without having to search for the game's expansion in order to be able to play with more players, which is hard to find.

  The game is incredibly fun and exciting. We usually play it with 3-4 people, but it's definitely better and more competitive/chaotic with 4 people, as it becomes a real frenzy until it's your turn again, since 1+3 tiles will have disappeared from the island and you will likely have to readjust the survival tactics of the explorers.

  Each move is equivalent to the sinking of one of the 40 island tiles, and your explorers have really slim chances of making it, with only 4 out of 10 successful attempts being considered a great achievement and a recipe for victory.

  Practically, the game ends when all the explorers drown/get eaten or when the volcano randomly explodes on one of the mountain tiles (the sand and later forest tiles will have already disappeared by then).

  Until then, the mixture of strategy, tactical moves of opponents, bluffing, and luck creates an explosive combination that raises adrenaline.

  The game is not only focused on rescuing your own explorers (human figures with points under their feet that you have to remember who they are and where they went once you place them on the island) but also on making crucial decisions on whether to move your own pawns (explorers, boats with explorers) or neutral pawns (empty boats or three-person boats without a majority of one player) or even whales/sharks/monsters to make it harder (sink the boat with a whale) or to sabotage the opponents (with a shark or monster). You also have to be suspicious of where each player has placed their explorers with the most points in order to sabotage them.

  First and foremost, you have to help your own, preferably those with many points (as long as you remember who they are after 5-10 moves), to step on one of the 4 corner islands. Until the last tile, a rescue can turn into a boat overturn or an attack from a monster and ultimately into a shipwreck and a complete failure.

  It skillfully combines many types of winning strategies based on the placement and development of pawns (explorers, sea monsters) without being overly chess-like and boring, so it can be played by anyone.

  It can be easily played by 7-year-old children (the little one gets especially excited if their sea monsters don't eat their pawns) while the 5-year-old can play it without obviously delving into the strategy.

  One downside is that it gives countless opportunities for misunderstandings among immature or selfish characters, such as why me and not him, why did you sink the tile where my explorer was standing, why did you break my boat, why did you send a shark/monster that ate my pawns? Also, it's really frustrating when your pawns get eaten by monsters just before you reach the shore or when the volcano erupts one move before you empty the boat that took a lot of effort to reach the coast. It's fun when you diplomatically place your own explorers on someone else's boat, forcing the opponent to carry you to safety.

  One rather noteworthy, if not negative(?), aspect is that the title was translated from "Escape from Atlantis" to "Rescue from the Island of the Devil". Okay...

  Excellent, balanced, Machiavellian game for people who know how to lose!

  One of the best family games I have played (it's not a coincidence that after 40 years it is so high on the BGG lists).
  Very easy to understand, quick to learn and play, even my 5.5-year-old daughter was able to play competitively from the first game without any help!
  The fact that it is competitive (since it's not enough to just get your pieces to the mainland, but you also have to destroy your opponents' pieces) makes it ideal for groups (lots of laughter and conflict!). Since we bought it, it has immediately become our favorite.
  Also, the fact that even children can play doesn't mean that it lacks strategic depth.
  The only negative thing I can find is that the explorer pieces should have been wooden, like all the rest, such as the boats, whales, and sharks.
  In conclusion, an amazing game and a big mistake not to have it in your collection, regardless of age!
