Aquilegia is a herbaceous perennial plant. It has two names, Aquilegia or Columbine. It loves shady or semi-shady places, while it suffers from the hot sun. The suitable temperature is that of April and May, around 16 to 25 degrees Celsius. 

In general, it is an easy-to-grow plant. It does not require special care if planted in fertile and hydrated soil. It should be fertilized in the spring and again in the fall.

The word Aquilegia comes from the word Aquila, which means eagle, while the word Columbine comes from the Italian word Colomba, which means dove. Thus, Aquilegia or Columbine is also called the Flower of the Birds.
